Make your visit a full day trip. The drive up to he summit has some wonderful native California vegetation and also views over the surrounding area. There are many places to walk/hike. At the top,the views were spectacular, especially to the east. Some of the buildings were closed, but there are tables to sit and enjoy the scenery. Bring your own food and drink. It can be hot/dry/dusty/windy/cool, so be prepared.

We usually go here in the winter to get above the fog and see some sunshine. Take a jacket if you go in the winter, the winds can be fierce at the summit.

Hikes, wildlife, stunning views. Take care to stay on the wider trails during the spring and early summer.. lots of ticks. The summit observatory is currently being remodeled. Check the schedule for a wonderful Stargazing experience on the summit.

Nothing overly impressive to write home about the park is just that, a park. No special ammenities and no incredible things to see or do. A pleasant outing that is close to most East Bay and Tri-valley residents.
