Zamaca is a brilliant B+B - John and Ellen are the best B+B hosts we've ever met - incredibly helpful and with such knowledge of the island and surrounding areas. Food was excellent (we had a different breakfast each morning - with chocolate muffins made especially for my fiance one morning) - and if you stay, you'll be missing out if you do not have dinner here (ask for pumpkin soup - sounds bit dull but tastes like heaven on a spoon). DO USE MELVIN as your taxi/tour guide - he is also excellent. Although you may want to watch the 10am trip to the rum factory...!

The location is excellent for the south of the island - beautiful beach (sandy beach) and easy access to the Pitons (go for the climb - hard work but well worth it and the guides are v attentive and all felt v safe) and Soufriee (mud bath is a must, though possibly avoid if you've got bad sunburn..ouch!) - the only thing location wise however is that whilst the east / south coasts are stunning and there is lots to do, if you fancy doing catamaran / deep sea fishing it is a bit of a trek up to the touristy bits.....when we go again (and we will) I think we'd do 4/5 nights at Zamaca and then head north for the remainder of the time. But do stay here - it is beautiful and incredible value for money!

What can I say that hasn't already been said.....we stayed at Zamaca for 3 nights during March 2011 Spring Break. Ellen and John were amazing hosts to us and our children and our friends. The rooms were well appointed, the views were spectacular, the surrounding gardens were a world of wonders for the kids, and the food.......was incredible. We asked Ellen to cook our dinner (at a very reasonable price) two nights in a row and I can't say enough about that delicious chicken curry! Yum yum.
Thank you Ellen and John for a wonderful stay, it was the high-light of our trip. Your incredible hospitality will always be a wonderful memory for our family. We hope to come back some day and stay with you again.
There is so much to see and do in the South part of the island we should have stayed longer. Our mistake and now we know. It is very cultural and the people are very genuine. It had a much different feel than the North side of St. Lucia.

After the long flight and the anxious first drive on the crazy St. Lucian roads, we received the most heartfelt and warm welcome to Zamaca from Ellen and John. These two individuals made our trip to St. Lucia unforgettable! Zamaca is quiet, secluded, Ellen prepares awesome breakfasts and dinners and the views are outstanding. We traveled with another family and so we were 4 adults and 4 kids under the age of 10. Luckily, we were the only guests during our stay, so we had the run of the house and John and Ellen made our kids feel so welcome and appreciated. We had dinners prepared for us, the kids were playing outside and the parents were having drinks on the deck overlooking beautiful Fond Bay and the Banana Plantations in the Valley below - Paradise. We regret that we stayed at Zamaca for only two nights and in hindsight, we should have spent at least 7. The rooms are very well-kept and are simply, but nicely appointed. The common areas of the house were always impeccable. The food was amazing; Ellen is a fantastic chef, while John is a very entertaining host. Our kids absolutely loved them and so did the parents! I cannot rave enough about Zamaca, my words will not do it justice. Compared to the resorts of the very commercial North Island (we stayed up there for a total of 7 more nights, at 3 different properties), the South is what we believe to be the real St. Lucia. The people are very kind and friendly and want to help at every turn. I can’t tell you how many times we asked for directions and the local people would always offer their help with laugh and a smile. The proximity to the airport is one of many benefits of Zamaca, a lovely place that it is very well kept and has the most personable and gracious hosts! I only hope that Ellen has remembered how to make the perfect Shakie for when we return next year.

We loved our stay at Zamaca. John and Ellen treated us like family and helped us in every way they could. We traveled to St. Lucia to relax and they provided us with all the help we needed to navigate the island and get around. Ellen is a fantastic cook and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner we had there one evening. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a wonderful view of the ocean.

We had a fabulous time at Zamaca. This is a beautiful villa with a breathtaking view of green hillsides, a banana plantation and a beach lined with coconut trees. Several times we walked to the beach and enjoyed a peaceful stroll – the beach is private and natural, untouched by man. The rooms are also beautiful and the service wonderful. One evening we enjoyed a private dinner prepared especially for us. The food was absolutely delicious, both dinner and our breakfasts each morning. And the price was extremely reasonable. Best of all were our host and hostess. John and Ellen went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to help us have a fantastic vacation. It is an easy drive to get to any part of the island and back within a day. Our experience taught us that this was a quiet and peaceful retreat after a day of shopping, site seeing, exploring, ziplining, ATVing, snorkeling or anything we wanted to do. We would highly recommend Zamaca as the place to stay on St. Lucia. I have stayed in dozens of B and Bs and this one rates at the top.
