“Great Place to Stay - I go there each year”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

My family and I live and work overseas, and we take our travel trailer to the RV park for a week each year. I've found it to be a good location, close to the trolley station for trips to see the Padres and close to all major freeways in the south bay. I'll be back next year for sure.

Room Tip: If you pay extra for an ocean view site, make sure you can actually see the ocean and you don't...

We rv'ed at Chula Vista for 2 weeks and found everything to be in great order. Very clean, very quiet at night and close to town. We paid an average of $78 a night which is in line with everything else in California. I would recommend this park to anyone with an rv. Staff was friendly.

Room Tip: I was in my rv so my bedroom was first class

We have only stayed here once but really loved it. Great people, clean bathrooms, great little shop with all the stuff you forgot, clean pool, activities, safe streets for kids to ride bikes, gated so it is safe, and close to everything. We are planning our next trip there very soon!

If you are seniors who like to live within the grounds then this is the place for you. If you have a family with small children - STAY AWAY! Here are the reasons: Although the grounds are very clean there are signs all over the campground that tells you to don't do this or that. Ex: "stay off grass," really it's a camp. Or "no kids in pool from the hours of 1-3 PM," really that's when it's hot, and finally, "no kids in spa." They really mean it as they built an ugly cage around it. Then there is the website. Talk about false advertising, the class B van parked on the sandy beach is totally false. There is no sandy beach near the site. It's a rocky shore along a bay that is filled with oily boat water. Do not let your kids swim in it. There is no playground in the park. The nearest one is outside of the camp in a public park. But you won't want to go there because its like being out in Tijuana. I'm an immigrant myself but I did not want my children out there. As for the rv sites, although the mature bushes provide privacy they are tight and the bushes are more for the long term senior campers since they don't want to see visitors like us. Lastly, the city of Chula Vista is not a place that you can walk around in after dark. Needless to say our experience was bad enough that we only stayed one night and argued for my refund for the second night and left. This is a fair review coming from a senior contributor.

Room Tip: This area is closer to the border. There are other rv resorts near Sea World and downtown San Diego.

After just returning from a three week vacation at a rather high end condo resort. I can appreciate the rules imposed by the Chula staff. Nothing can ruin a vacation quicker than a bunch of out of control kids.
Some people whether they're 30 or 99 years old, like to relax and have some "quiet enjoyment" in life. If you want you're kids to go crazy then take them to Disney land, which by the way, isn't that far away, mor go find an open park somewhere. What makes you think we all want to listen to your brat scream and run around.
From reading the reviews, my take is that this is an RV resort that's a little more adult orientated and that "well behaved" children are more than welcome.
After reading all of the reviews, you can bet that this is where my wife and I will be spending next winter.

CVRV Resort has pristine grounds, exceptional park management, and location on the bay makes it the place to stay while in San Diego. The walk around the bay park is an added bonus including the fishing pier and view of the marina. There are two restaurants within walking distance and both have great food and view of marina.

Management staff is superior: in 10 years of RVing, never met a more accommodating and friendly group. Groundkeepers take pride in their work – the flora and fauna are gorgeous… you feel like you are on a south sea island. Outstanding activities calendar; Tuesday Cocktail Hour is so much fun – and food by Doris is to die for. Mini-market onsite, relaxing pool & hot tub, clean laundry, and curbside trash pickup – what a place. Pet-friendly, close to freeway, and stores within driving distance.

This RV park is lush and well maintained. Lots of inexpensive activities for the over 55 crowd. We stayed for a month and got a better rate. You are close to shopping and the light rail transit system that takes you to San Diego and all the attractions. Seniors travel light rail for !.25 each way with more sights to see than we could do in a month. The sites are 50 and 30 amp and have nice sized concrete pads. We have a bay view site which makes it nice for launching our kayak. There are two restaurants you can walk to on this property just above the marina with nightly all you can eat specials. Great pool and spa but the workout room needs some updated weights and is at times crowded. This is one of the most beautiful sites we have been to in many years. We were here in a fifith wheel trialer.
