“Friendly place to stay in Chico”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

I stayed here with family in July of 2013. We rented a 2-bedroom suite on the 2nd floor. The room was located smack up against the elevator and across from the ice machine, but to our surprise, we heard no noise from either! However, the walls and ceiling are pretty thin, so we did hear LOTS of noise from the family above us. (Luckily they quieted down around 11pm, and didn't get up 'til 7am.)

The desk staff and cleaning staff are very friendly and welcoming. The folks working in the buffet kitchen are super nice.

The beds are comfortable, there is lots of storage space for clothes, the air conditioner works well and quickly (although a little loudly), and the bathrooms are spotless. The water pressure in the shower is fine. The soap/shampoo comes from a large dispenser on the shower wall, which I like-- no waste from those little plastic bottles! There's an iron and ironing board in the closet, coffee maker by the sink, and a mini-fridge. No safe in the room we stayed in.

There's an evening "wine/beer" hour with light snacks, and a hot buffet breakfast every day. Not the greatest food in the world, but hey, it comes with the price of the room and is convenient. You're within walking distance of quite a few chain restaurants and a big shopping mall, and the Sierra Nevada Brewery and restaurant is just on the other side of the freeway. (My husband and I walked over there.) The downtown Chico area is about a ten-minute drive away, and Bidwell Park is similarly close.

The worst thing I can say about this place is that the carpet was dirty-- you couldn't really see the dirt, but I wore a pair of clean white socks one morning and walked around the room for a couple of minutes, and my socks ended up completely black. For such an otherwise clean place, this was kind of surprising.

We will definitely stay here again-- we've stayed in four other hotels in Chico, and this one is by far the quietest and most comfortable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor so you don't have to hear people above you.

We picked this spot without much thought as we had been on the road all day. We certainly picked well. The grounds and building exterior looked great and inside was even better with a very friendly and helpful staff. We had bikes to bring in the room and the staff was totally accommodating. There were complementary beverages and breakfast which was great. Not just a continental breakfast. The suite was spacious, clean and newly updated. It was the perfect place to relax after a long day on the road. We would definitely stay there again.

I used to travel a lot for work so I've had my fair share of experiences with all levels of places to stay. Several visits ago I saw this hotel and said next trip were staying there due to is great location. We've been staying there every year since. The one thing I cant stand is paying for a room then being nickeled and dimes to death; that's why I love this place. The rooms are spacious giving the kids their own space. Even if you get up before the "real" breakfast is ready; coffee is on. I usually have to go searching for coffee at other places. In the morning its an actual breakfast then in the evening they have appies during the week with usually salad and soup bar. The food and atmosphere are excellent. The staff rocks, they're personable and its the same faces which I appreciate. If you need anything they take care of it right away another step up they have on other places. As well the location is awesome. Everything is walkable if you choose and easy access to just about everything else.

I chose this hotel based on it's reviews in Travelocity and was very pleased. We live in San Francisco, and were planning a hike with our dog in Upper Bidwell Park. I needed a one-night stay in a dog friendly hotel. The location lacks character - across the street from In-n-Out, IHOP, Applebees and Krispy Kreme donuts, but the area is clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly, and your dog gets a portable water bowl and treats upon arrival. The swimming pool is smallish, but cools you down on a hot summer day. Included in our rate was a great happy hour - two drinks, chips, salad and soup. Breakfast was also included - eggs, yoghurt, granola, cereal, potatoes and fruit. Our room was comfortable, but it's a bit too small for the fold-out bed, which requires some maneuvering to get the coffee table out of the way. If you want to visit the Sierra Nevada brewery (we didn't), you are a couple of blocks away (the hotel will take you there if you chose not to drive). In summary, I found the hotel to be a very good value.

We stayed for a night at the Oxford Suites during a stop in Chico for the Sierra Nevada Brewery visit. We found the Oxford Suites to be very clean, comfortable, and quiet. The beds were great and the coffee at breakfast was very good (we had a hot breakfast voucher included with our stay which was pretty good as far as hotel breakfast buffets go: scrambled eggs, a separate chorizo scramble, tortillas, fixings, toast and fruit). I recommend this spot if you are looking for a clean & comfy (but no frills) stop in Chico. Staff was very friendly and nice -- always nice after a long journey.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms overlook the lobby, so could be noisier. Go for a room on the 3rd floor away from t...

Six of us stayed here (three in a room) during my daughter's graduation in May. To get a room during graduation, you have to book almost a year in advance. That is how it is at almost all the hotels in Chico. But - I got two rooms here and everything went smoothly. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. There is a nice cooked breakfast in the morning (more than the usual cereal and waffles). At night there is a happy hour - but a little above the typical. Drink tickets are provided and there is soup/salad bar. One night there was pasta.

The hotel is conveniently located with plenty nearby. I was a little concerned with the location near the freeway, but there was not much noise. The staff was friendly. The pool and Jacuzzi were clean. Overall - nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Our rooms were on the top floor, but we were on the freeway side (which was OK).

We stayed one night at the Oxford Suites to visit the local Sierra Nevada Brewery, we booked a brewery package. The staff were very welcoming and informative, and the hotel offers a lot of complimentary "extras" such as free drinks at the bar and a free shuttle to and from the brewery. We booked a king suite and the room was very big, the bed was very comfortable and we could find all the right things like plug sockets, somewhere to put your bag etc. The bathroom was very very clean if a little basic in its appearance. We unfortunately missed the breakfast but went to the local In-An-Out Burger (no complaints from me!) but we did manage to use the pool and steam room which was lovely. Thank you for a lovely stay!
