“Sip a Beer!”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

There are always new things on the menu. The food is always fresh and hot to your table and the people are always helpful and cheerful. If you have any diet restrictions they are willing to share what is good on the menu for you.

“Amazing beers, comfort food”
Reviewed January 19, 2012

We have eaten here numerous times over the last few years. The food is consistently good and the beer menu expands almost every visit, and there isn't a bad beer to be had.
If you like beer ask for the sampler, your beer will be served on a sheet of paper with all the beers listed (ask for an extra sheet, it makes a great keepsake). The old style traditional long wooden bar is a great photo opportunity.
My only complaint is that, this bar/restaurant is so popular it can get a bit noisy, if the weather permits eat out in the garden.

“Tour is a must for beer lovers or those interested in environmental sustainability, and its free too!”
Reviewed January 1, 2012

Even if you're not a beer connoisseur, this free 75-90 minute tour is well worth a trip to Chico for its history and the state-of-the-art methods the owner has made to incorporate environmental sustainability into its operations. The history revolves around its founder, an engineering wunderkind with a passion for brewing that has kept him from selling out to the corporate breweries. The tour visits each step in the brewing process with enough discussion from the guide and hands on activities to start your own microbrewery. Along the way, the guide will point out solar panels, fuel cells, waste composters, and hybrid trucks being used to reduce energy usage and waste disposal. Our tour ended with a tasting of ten different beers, about half of which are available only at the brewery or in local area.

If you go, I'd recommend getting there early for the best selection of tour times. The tours are given daily at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 4pm and fill up fast. We arrived at 11:30 on a Wednesday and the 12:00 tour was already booked and when we started our 1:00 tour all the other tours were full. I don't know if you can reserve ahead of time, but it's probably worth calling first at least to check on availability.

Several of the rooms are noisy, so if you really want to follow the beer-making process discussion, try to stick close to the guide. We missed a good deal of the discussion in the hops room.

If you want to dine at the brewery's restaurant, be prepared to wait, or call ahead to see if you can reserve. Its very popular but worth the wait. We dined at the restaurant in mid afternoon after our tour and the wait was already 40-50 minutes. However, we chose to sit in the outdoor bar area under heat lamps and avoided the wait.
