We stayed 6 nights at the Residence Inn while I was in town for business.
The check-in process was very smooth, and the staff was very helpful and cooperative. We had a room that was a 1-room suite, with a separated bedroom/bathroom and living/kitchen area. This was VERY convenient, as I had to go to bed early to get up early for work. My husband was able to stay up as late as he wanted in the next room without keeping me up.
Our first impression of the room was, "WOW!" The whole suite is absolutely beautiful! The colors are bright and cheery, as you can see in the pictures. We were especially impressed with the kitchen and bathroom countertops- all done in Granite!!
The bed was beautiful and comfortable, and the shower very spacious. My only complaint about this would be that it was a queen bed- when I'm on vacation I like to stretch out in a king size bed, but it wasn't a huge deal, because we're used to a queen at home!
The exercise room was small, with only a stair machine, stationary bike, and treadmill, but there was rarely anyone in there and there were no problems getting in to work out.
The (outdoor) pool was small, though not postage-stamp sized! It was never overly crowded- most of the time we were the only ones using it! The hot tub was nice as well, and a great way to undwind the day. We always had it to ourselves- never had to share it!
Monday through Thursday nights, the Residence Inn provides a social hour from 5-7 pm where they serve different appetizers every night! This was a favorite activity for us every night before we went out to eat. Then, every night when we returned from dinner, they had a basket of hot cookies waiting for guests at the front desk as we walked in the door!
In addition, they serve complimentary contintental (and hot!) breakfast every morning, which was just delicious with a wide variety of foods. Different hot options every morning. The hours of breakfast ran from 6-10 am, but I had to leave the hotel by 5:45 am to make it to work. However, it seemed that they always had breakfast out by 5:30 am, so I was always able to get breakfast! The severs were friendly and always willing to accomodate.
The staff were among the best I've experienced at a hotel! Always smiling, greeting me as I came and went from the hotel. We were unfamiliar with Chico, and needed recommendations daily on the best places to eat. It was our tradition to stop by the front desk and ask the staff where we should eat. They always sent us to wonderful restaurants!
If you're traveling to Chico and are unfamiliar, here were our favorite restaurants in town: Sierra Nevada Brewery, Woodstock Pizza (WONDERFUL pizza!!), and Italian Cottage. Then of course, there's the California traidition- In N Out Burger!
Grocery stores in Chico seemed to be abundant, and we made a grocery trip at the beginning of our stay, and were able to save a lot of money eating lunch and snacks in our room.
I would recommend this hotel for absolutely ANYONE! This is, without question, the nicest hotel in Chico. A Courtyard is being built next door to the Residence Inn, but I would prefer this hotel because of the full kitchen, especially if you're spending anytime longer than 1 day. It was great to be able to bring left-overs home, and keep some cokes in our fridge!
This hotel is great for business travelers, but families as well. The two-room suites are apartment style, allowing kids and parents to have separate rooms with the common living area.
Overall a wonderful stay, and if we go back to Chico, we will be happy to stay here again.
