This place is really neat architecturally - mission revival style with cheesy 40's elements. The rooms, common areas, and parking lot are unusually spacious. I loved the relaxed, airy feel of the premises there on the Esplanade. We didn't take a swim, but the pool and deck around it are huge. This would be a perfect place to stay in the summer. The downside: slightly tweeky clientele; old furniture, and carpets that were just gross. If the owners kept the tweekers away, invested a few more man-hours per day in cleaning, and replaced the carpets, this old motor inn could be super-cool.
