“Consistently good food”
Review of Sin of Cortez

Sin of Cortez
Ranked #31 of 337 Restaurants in Chico
Price range: $5 - $15
Description: Sin of Cortez has become a true Chico hotspot over the past 15 years. By blending the creative and operational forces behind the cafe with a “never settle for second best” philosophy, Sin of Cortez has done just that. The breakfast and lunch menus were originally created by chef Isabel Cruz. Everything served at Sin of Cortez is made in-house. The salsa is fresh. The bread is baked fresh. The beans are cooked fresh. Pancake options, scrambled egg breakfasts, sausage from our local university farm. House Coffee rated ‘Grand Cru’, the top 2% of all the world’s coffee, using Single Origin beans to ensure consistent flavor and texture. Decaf is brewed cup to cup, not by the pot. Vietnamese coffee and Mexican hot chocolate, too! Vegetarian, Gluten Free, and Paleo Options.

Fun atmosphere, tasty food. I particularly like the mini breakfast burritos. Friendly staff. I've never tried the drive-thru, but from watching, it seems very efficient.

I decided I wanted a "good" breakfast. So I stopped at Sin of Cortez. Breakfast and lunch place. I wasn't advised of any lower carb options. So the Breakfast Sandwich is carbs plus more carbs. Comes w potatoes. Service was good all coffee is espresso. Atmosphere comfortable.

Perfect eggs and potatoes, delicious coffee and phenomenal pancakes in a casual hip atmosphere. The rosemary bread melts in your mouth— unbelievably good and I don’t usually even eat bread.

Took my family there to celebrate yesterday. But the taste of the food has changed. In the past the potatoes had a crispy texture to it and vegetable had a grilled taste to it. Yesterday the above qualities were missing.

Disappointed.

It may be the best cup of coffee in Chico--the place to go early on a weekday before the crowd rush and yammer for the massive breakfast plates with old staples, smothered mexican dishes, and wonderful side orders. They don't even allow this place to participate in the "best of chico" competitions anymore, since it consistently trounced everyone else for so many years. But trust me, its the most creative breakfast lineup anywhere in town.
