I needed a place to which to invite my whole extended family for a weekend to join me in celebrating my seventy-fifth birthday. It was easy to choose The Old Hall: it offered everything we needed, and more, for eight adults (39 to 75 years old) and seven children (7 to 16 years old). Oh, and six dogs!
The house itself was immaculately presented, in keeping with its history, but with all modern amenities and fully equipped, with a large Aga in the kitchen (home-from-home!) but also an electric oven and hobs, and a microwave oven. My son-in-law produced mouth-watering steaks on the large Weber gas barbecue in the courtyard..
Converting the attic into children's bedrooms, complete with a home cinema, was inspirational and a boon the one morning it rained.
The pool pavilion was used by the musicians among us. My wife, children and grandchildren are all are very keen swimmers, so the pool was essential. We have had several homes with swimming pools so know how important it is to maintain them properly. The pool at The Old Hall was very clean, the water temperature and chemical balance perfect, the motorised cover easy to use and pool towels provided for everyone. We all enjoy outdoor games, so the lawns (for croquet and cricket) and tennis court were a bonus.
The grounds were a joy to explore - a mix of very trim beds, lawns and topiary, many mature trees and some wilderness to investigate. The whole house and grounds seemed boundless and in three days we had no need to venture beyond the front gate.
We were welcomed on arrival by the owner, who gave us a full tour and pleasantly surprised us with unexpected extras.
The feedback from my whole family, from youngest to oldest was full of superlatives.

We visited the Old Hall as part of a 30th birthday weekend. From the moment we drove onto the property the weekend was just perfect. We were welcomed by the fantastic host with Champagne and freshly made cake, followed by a tour around the very big and very historic property learning lots as we went.
The house itself offers everything you would need and want mixing the 16th century with all the modern comforts you would expect and more.
Whether you want to relax, play games, swim in the pool or just explore (which would occupy a good day or two) you can't go wrong with this place. An incredible social house ideal for large groups to enjoy.
Will definitely be back. Thanks to Janine and everyone at the Old Hall!

The Old Hall is full of character, beautifully furnished and appointed and steeped in history. The grounds are also superb, with various landscaped gardens, a pool and tennis court. We stayed at the Old Hall over the weekend of our son's wedding which was held locally, with the Groom's party and close family and it proved to be the perfect place to entertain everybody during the weekend with a wealth of reception rooms and facilities. The wedding was wonderful and the Old Hall certainly added to our experience considerably.

We stayed here over Easter with our extended family (16 of us) and it couldnt have been more berfect... Champagne left for us on arrival, sun shining, lunch in the summerhouse, catered evening meal, archery on site, tennis galore, beautiful walks, hen and peacock entertainment, not to mention the high standard of decor and the individual character of each room. The owner was extremely helpful and tailored the house to meet our sleeping needs and helped us arrange activites and meals.
