“Christmas family reunion vacation perfection!”
Reviewed January 5, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Our family made up of grandparents, kids & grandkids stayed in the Old Hall for a week over Christmas & loved every second of this amazing property & all that it had to offer. From the booking process which began a year & a half ago, through to our departure from the house, Janine has been just brilliant to liase with. Every question we had was answered, & so many suggestions as to what we could do in the area throughout our stay were forthcoming from her. Our arrival to the Old Hall was fantastic, with Janine greeting us with the fires burning, mince pies at the ready, champagne set.. I arrived first & she asked if we wanted the guided tour, she must have seen my kids faces....& told them to run off & explore by themselves & make themselves at home....& they sure did. The house lives way beyond its photo's...it's beautiful, with stunning grounds, plenty of places to take a break from it all...we had sixteen of us staying there, & each of us found our own favorite spot to chill out. The bedrooms are spacious, bathrooms attached to most, with modern amenities which are very in keeping with the house. Beautiful kitchen which really is the heart of the house...we quickly mastered the aga, & catered all but one meal ourselves with no trouble. Everything you think you may need....is there...we tried to find something that was missing....but we were always stumped. The grounds are beautiful & we had a brilliant scavenger hunt around the property, hung out with the peacocks, & the chickens & the guinea fowl....even got used to the rooster who seemed to think we should all get up at 2.30am! The house was decorated stunningly for Christmas, & it was hard to find a room without some added special extra that Janine had placed there. An endless supply of board games, dvd's, books, magazines....like I said...if you could think of it...it was already there. We enjoyed a meal from "Bill, the fish & chip guy" who rolled his truck right up to the front of the house, it was perfect & also enjoyed a morning of archery with Dave who Janine had recommended...another highlight of a great stay. While the Old hall is situated in a sleepy little village....10 minutes & you can be in Norwich...very easy access, although some in our family never left the house...they were enjoying themselves there too much. Our stay at the Old Hall was just magical, & has created a lifetime of amazing memories for us all who were there, both young & old. Thanks to Janine & Beccs for working to make our stay so very special. We would highly recommend a stay here to anyone & are already thinking about how to book a summer stay so that we could take advantage of a whole different side of the property....it would be a different place again in the summer I'm sure.

“A very special place!”
Reviewed December 15, 2014 for a stay in December 2014

This place is simply amazing and almost to good to describe in words alone! The location is in the peaceful village of Saxlingham, not far from Norwich and the building itself is something incredible. I counted 6 glorious bedrooms and I don't think I saw them all. Our room was beautifully laid out, with traditional wooden beam walls and ceiling, our own en suite bathroom and even a drawing room. The whole house exudes elegance and style from a bygone age, with roaring open fires in several of the rooms downstairs. The gardens are immaculately kept, with the odd peacock to keep us company. There is even an outdoor pool although we daren't use it in December. We had a mix of our own food and catering, the latter being recommended by the owners. Chris and his team ensured that our stay was as perfect as possible, even bringing out the sun in December! I would definitely recommend this place for a family getaway, party or event.

“A trip back in time....”
Reviewed December 8, 2014 for a stay in December 2014

This is a most amazing property. As soon as you enter the grounds you know it is special and on entering the house and viewing the wonderful rooms and furniture you know you have made the right decision to visit.

The owners have made great effort to combine old and new without compromising on the feel of being in a 400 year old property. With Wifi throughout you are never out of touch with the modern world but you can relax and imagine how the wealthy would have lived in years gone by.

The rooms are large and impressive and some bedrooms even have en suite facilities. The gardens are a sight to behold and the peacocks wandering about just a crowning glory.

If you have a large group to accommodate this is a much nicer place to stay than a modern hotel with no character.

Please remember this is an old house so there are stairs and no lifts and the windows are of character and not sealed double glazed units but if you want a taste of history and to sleep in a place of character I can think of nowhere better to stay.

“Wonderful warm home oozing with character”

We've just had one of those brilliant winter escape weekends with friends. Blue skies, frosty ground, invigorating fresh air, gorgeous local food and a sherry or two. We try to book 1 or 2 of these trips every year and the Old Hall was unanimously voted our best location so far - it's one we'll definitely return to. The place oozes history and character and yet felt like our own relaxing home for the weekend.

Where to start? From the first time in visited to see Janine and Chris, until saying farewell everything was brilliant. The warmth of the welcome, the well organised arrangements, the amazing house itself of course and the quality of catering that was on offer. The Old Hall is the PERFECT place for large families or groups to get away and spend quality time together surrounded by peace and tranquility. Janine and Chris are completely focused on helping ensure their clients have a great time. I and our NBC club are extremely grateful to them for helping us have a fantastic weekend.

Even on a frosty December day, The Old Hall serves up a wonderful, warm country home. Fabulous open hearths with wood fires, glorious rooms, lovely linens and fluffy towels in the roomy bedrooms and everything you need to feel like Lord of the Manor!

Wish we could have stayed for longer, I am sure there were some rooms we didn't even discover. We had the best time and look forward to coming back.

“A wonderful place”
Reviewed November 18, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We stayed at the Old hall in September for a family gathering. It is a wonderful location and accommodation was perfect for a family group on a really special occasion. The food was great, we used a mix of the recommended Bespoke caterers, local pubs and even had a fish and Chip man come and cook outside!
Our stay was made all the more special due to the care and personal details provided by Janine.
We only wish we could have stayed forever!
