“The first lie”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

The first lie is that this property is on the beach. Its on a parking lot in front of the beach with all of the attentive foot and car noise. Don't plan to check in early or late. There are no exceptions to the rule with this bunch of unaccommodating staff.
This B and B does not leave you warm and fussy. Its almost like you are a pain in the bottom to them.I Would not recommend this place to anyone!!

Dear Guest,

We apologize that you felt miss led by our location, we try to make it clear during reservation the difference between a Street Level Beach View and an Upstairs Full Ocean View.
There are no properties that sit on the sand in Cayucos, we are however the premier location for those looking to spend time "on the beach". Many people enjoy the feeling of being "right there" but for a little more seclusion our upstairs rooms are available.

We are a small operation with only 14 rooms, our housekeeping department works its very hardest to clean all rooms before our 3:00 check in time. On busy weekends it's common that they will need until that time to complete rooms and have them ready to rent. in the mornings if there is no one booked to stay in that room we are more than happy to extend a check out time, but if someone has already reserved the room we will need to adhere to the times put in place so the next guest may enjoy.

Regarding front desk service, we are deeply apologetic you felt you were treated poorly & proper training will take place immediately.

Thank you for your comments,
OntheBeach

What a wonderful way to spend an evening....I haven't slept so well in years, despite the fact my bedmate was a squirmy eight-year-old boy. I truly enjoyed the bed with its high count sheets, the luxurious jacuzzi tub (I've never seen children more eager to bathe), the glass of wine in the afternoon, and the roar of the surf just out the door. The staff was welcoming and made me feel like I was visiting a much more relaxing and comfortable version of home. The kids loved running out on the pier first thing in the morning while I relished the homemade granola and 3 cups of coffee. While I loved the time spent with my family, I think I'll leave the kids at home next time so I visit On The Beach unencumbered.

Listen to waves all night long, right next to a great food and drinks. The beach and everything is walking distance. Great romantic get away for our valentines day weekend. Stayed on a thursday and used a living social coupon which was such a deal! for everything it was 115! We got wine tasting for two, free breakfast which was freshly made and a voucher for dinner! Best place I have had the pleasure of staying! Will be back!!!

I stayed here with my family for one night and we loved it! Our room was large with two big beds, a balcony overlooking the beach, a fireplace, and a huge jacuzzi tub. We were very comfortable. The location is great...right across from a great little beach restaurant with killer shrimp tacos. my husband loved the rooftop jacuzzi. And the breakfast was amazing! Aside from the usual breads, yogurts and cereal they were offering a bacon and leek quiche, strawberry coffee cake, and blueberry pancakes. Delicious! We will be back for sure.

Room Tip: We were in room 1, downstairs overlooking the beach.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay here and would recommend it to others. The room (no. 4) was very spacious, the beds were comfortable and the decor was lovely. We were a bit underwhelmed by the appetisers / wine tasting (mainly because they make such a huge thing about it on their website - maybe if they toned that down a bit it wouldn't disappoint!), but the breakfasts were really great. The location was nearly on the beach - a small road separates. The hot tub / deck area was slightly disappointing, especially as it was more of a "lukewarm tub". The staff were very friendly and helpful.

First off the location is great, the staff very friendly and courteous. The afternoon snacks, wine and beer social hour was great. The breakfasts were good with a good selection of items. Would not reccommend Room 2, right off the kitchen and dining area. Noisy early in the morning as the staff was preparing the breakfast menu along with the conversations of diners. Also being on the first floor the noise from the room above was terrible. You could hear every step the people took. The refrigerator was unplugged so we plugged it in to keep cold some water and champagne. We did not check the settings, our water froze and if we had kept the champagne in there, no telling if the bottle would have exploded or not. Odd that it is unplugged after every guest. The room was dated, desperately needs remodeling of the furniture and curtains. the curtains were very worn and threadbare. also looked like some of the art work was missing off one of the walls so the room seemed bare. Disappointed in the quality of the room, expected more due to the price of the room.

my family and i (wife and 2 children, 3 years and 6 months) spent 2 night in this b&b. truly a special place. they were incredibly friendly and helful with everything, they offered complimentary beers and wine tasting with home made appetizers every night and the breakfast was rich and home made too. the b&b is located right on the local beach and next door to restaurants and small cozy shops. the small town of cayucos might look to you just as a deviation to the highway 101 on your way south, but it is a place that you should really visit and spend some time in if you are serious about meeting friendly people, good food, and relax away from mass touristic places. a real gem, i will get back one day for sure.
