“Great resort - skip the golf course”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

My husband and I spent a week at this resort in a golf/mountain view room. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We love to cook and found the kitchen well stocked with everything we needed. There are beautiful plantation shutters to block out the afternoon sun. The pools were great but skip the goat patch they call a golf course.

The only reason I did not give this place a 5 is that the concierge told us the golf course was in great shape. It was horrible and there are literally hundreds to choose from that are much nicer than this one. I do not appreciate that she did not tell the truth.

Room Tip: The pools can be noisy so you may want to ask for a room with a golf view. Ask for an upper floor s...

Truly a Gold Crown resort. The front desk help was so courteous and helpful, even let us check in early as the room was ready. Beautiful room, spacious, very well decorated and appointed, well supplied kitchen with all you need, very clean and convenient to work in.
The bedroom and bath also spacious, clean, and very comfortable with a private balcony with chairs and table and a view of the golf course and San Jacinto mountains. Beautiful!
The grounds and landscaping are first rate with two nice pools to enjoy....even movies at night for the kids. Fun
Lots of activities and both for kids and adults planned each day.
We would recommend visiting this resort.

Rented a "villa" for 2 nights for 3 adults and 1 child.

Staff was friendly although when you complete your check in, you are then ushered to the Concierge to issue you a parking pass. Real reason for this is for the property to convince you to attend a timeshare presentation. Let's face it, the check in agent can just as easily issue you the parking pass because it is there that you fill out the vehicle information. So just expect that, it's really not a hard sale like some other places but they should ask you if you are interested before offering it to you unwillingly.

They were able to accomodate my early check in at 1:00 PM and late check out of 11:30 although for the late check out request, they did say we couldn't stay longer because the property was full and my room was needed. The property was pretty much empty-at least my floor was as I did not see a single person on our floor for the entire three days I was there.

Game room was top notch. Pools-both adult and family were clean as was the jacuzzi. We did report cockroach sightings at night near the jacuzzi at which point the staff responded by giggling and reminding us we were in the desert where it was hot and humid and such insects are common. Do they sell Raid in the desert I wonder?

Room was well furnished with nice ammenities although the bathroom could use a facelift as does the kitchen. At $99/night, this was a pleasant stay. No parking fees and no resort fees makes this a good option. Make sure you book directly through the Welks reservation hotline as they will offer you a first time visitor special rate which beats any other rate out there including Expedia.

This place is nothing like they advertise. We're an owner at the Escondido Resort and got treated at the Oasis Resort like some bum off the street. And on top of that, a week later, we recieved two separate additional charges on our credit card which we had to dispute for about two days to resolve it. Don't go there, last warning..

We made a long 4th of July weekend at this place. It's in Cathedral City, which is close to Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, and Palm Springs. There are some fine places to eat nearby. The resort itself good. Our 1 bedroom unit was 163 overlooking the golf course. The units are large with fully equiped kitchens. It does not look like many upgrades have been done to the resort, so it has a bit of a 70s feel. There is still cottage cheese on the ceilings. Also, there are no elevators in the buildings. Just special handicapped "lifts" which are not very fast and prettly much only usefull for getting your luggage up to the second floor. The activities center is large and has lot's of stuff going on for the kids. Very nice pool and hot tub area. Check out time is 10:00, which is a bit harsh for late sleepers like me.

This was a great place to chill during the hot days we spent in Joshua Tree. There were plenty of families there, lots of activities for the kids and a great pool setting. Big room also with plenty of room to stretch out. They had some work being done on the entrance but can you complain about getting better? I don't think so. Good experience!

Room Tip: Get a room away from the main road, even a pool view would be nice.

A wonderful find through Hotwire for less than $100, including taxes. I came down with the intention of spending only one night in town to visit my teenage daughter over father's day weekend. I liked my first night so much, I asked the front desk I could stay another night and if they could match the Hotwire price - they checked into it and obliged. My daughter liked the room...she knows I tend to bargain hunt for lodging and at often may not be as impressed with my selections as she was with the Desert Oasis.

Front desk personnel were extremely nice to talk to. There are two pools - one for adults and the other one for families.

The suite was approximately 850 square feet with a massive bedroom, living and dining area. Flat screen TV in the bedroom and living area. My unit was on the first floor and it included a small patio area. My unit faced the parking lot and Cathedral Canyon Drive.

Another bonus: resorts such as this, when reserved via HOTWIRE, can charge a fee upwards of around $25/night on top of what you already paid to Hotwire. No resort fee here.

I didn't give it 5 stars only because there was some construction in the parking/valet area in front of the lobby round-about. Also, housekeeping failed to come by.
