If you've ever been to Canter's in Los Angeles and have had one of their Reuben sandwiches, then you've got go to Jack's Bistro and Famous Bagels in Carpinteria. I must tell you, their Reuben was far better than any I've ever had, including Canter's Deli! We went there on our way to the orchid growers and boy was I glad we did. We were seated next to the fireplace, which was welcomed as it was a chilly, drizzly day in Carpinteria. The owner/manager was sitting behind me and offered many different menu choices, including their homemade chili. We opted for the Reuben sandwiches. I had the coleslaw with mine, which was absolutely delicious.....pecans and grapes accented the cabbage giving it a wonderful flavor. My significant ordered the fries with his sandwich and they were delicious also, not over-cooked nor undercooked. The restaurant seemed to be family oriented, but no families with small children were there when we were. I'm sure they do a great business during the summer with the many campers that come to Carpinteria. So, if you're camping in Carpinteria or are just traveling through the area, and are looking for a good value, friendly, and efficient place to eat, check out Jack's you won't be disappointed!
