“Good hotel”
Reviewed April 15, 2007

Good hotel at a good price. The room had been newly renovated and it was very clean. It is about a 20 minute drive to downtown Santa Barbara. The rooms along the highway side can be a bit noisy, but not excessive. The room was about $59 plus tax (higher if you reserve onsite). Reserve ahead since they tend to book up fast. Another motel 6 winner!

This place is very close to Santa Barbara. We stayed just for a night. For $55, this place is great. Very small room, and an even smaller bathroom, but since we stayed overnight, we were fine. Pretty clean!! And the A/c was also working fine. Delivers what it promises - no frills, clean place !!

This place is a cheaper alternative to S.B.The room I checked into was clean had a good TV with nice recieption. As mentioned there is quite a bit of road noise coming off the 101.That's nothing a pair of ear plugs won't fix.The place has a good selection of vending machines and there is a 7-11 nearby. The only downer is that side parking fills up quick. If you don't get a spot you'll have to park in the bigger rear lot thus giving you a long walk and having your vehicle out of your sight.

This hotel is priced right according to the amenities and location. My husband and I didn't really notice the noise from the roadway in my room as other reviewers did (maybe I had a well-located room), but I believe the intake vent for the air conditioning in my room must have been located right next to a smoking area. That was the only problem we had. Anytime the air came on, our non-smoking room smelled like WE were smoking cigarettes, but we spent so little time in the hotel that it was something we chose to ignore (as much as allergy sufferers can :-)).

Also about the amenities, our room had a shower - no tub - with excellent water pressure for the second floor!! There was no alarm clock, which surprised me, but I was on vacation and didn't need it. The young man at the front desk was very polite, and the whole stay was charged on the first day with no need to check out when we left.

We did have a beautiful view of the mountains from our room, and the entrance to the property is beautifully landscaped as most properties in the area are.

This is basically a place to shower and lay your head. For the price, I didn't expect more than that, and I was not disappointed.

We stayed here only because Santa Barbara was booked solid. Typical Motel 6 furnishings and clean, but it is located directly on the highway. You hear traffic all night long making sleep impossible. Front desk is uncommunicative and barely made eye contact. If you have to stay here get a room in the back, but try not to stay here at all. And the sheets were like sandpaper.

Room had a strange smell, but not necessarily bad, more like they sprayed the room with something to keep bad smells away (especially in the damp coastal environment) but they sprayed too much of it. Toilet seat didn't match the toilet. The toilet was one of those long ovate toilets, but the seat was for a smaller round toilet, so the seat circled into the middle of the bowl and then there was all this extra toilet sticking out. It was very strange and hard to use. The grounds were well maintained, and the pool area was nice, but someone graffitied an entire wall near one of the driveways, and when we checked out two days later nothing had been done about it. Nobody had even tried to wipe it off. But the room was clean and mildew free, which is pretty good when you're near the ocean.
