Sorry to say, rude wait staff, waited almost an hour to get the first dish of 6 people eating. I literally had to take my dish "to go" because the kids were falling asleep. Also, the table was disgusting from the setting before, which is undeniably wrong and uncleanly. I WILL NEVER RETURN!!! There are so many better restaurants in the Carmel Valley village and in Carmel that I will never waist my time or money again at the Cachagua General Store. These guys need an attitude adjustment and definitely a lesson on cleanliness. Double YUCK! Guess they really don't care and they just want to sell more wine. NOT COOL Michael; the owner, and staff at the GENERAL STORE on Cachagua Rd. Also, stop with your foul cus words. Really not cool, especial when children are present!!!
Where do I begin, from dinner back in December to Brunch in June, beef short ribs vs eggs benedict.? In a few words, brunch was stellar! Dinner, just needed more seasoning. Love the ambience and the local talent that entertained us. Worth the crazy drive to get here.
Cachagua General Store is open only on Sundays (Brunch and Dinner) and Mondays (Dinner). Went there for a Monday night dinner. Word of warning, if you're squeamish about winding road and switchback turns, don't attempt the drive. Of all the roads in France, Italy I've driven, this is one of the windiest roads with the sharpest turns. Personally I loved the drive. Okay the food - had Cioppino - was just okay. Crab cake - the best I've ever had - lumpy crab meat with panko - not one of those pimento flavored heavily breaded kind. The Store was simple and rustic. Outdoors seating had citronella candle and the Store provided bug sprays. Servers were casual, warm but very busy. The biggest problem for us was the long wait to be served and long wait in between courses. I had to ask for my entree to be packed so that I may leave while there's still a tiny ray of dusk light on my return on the windy switchback roads. Spent a total of 2-3 hours there - very French indeed !
Are you ever in Carmel Valley on a Sunday or Monday this is a MUST. In fact, I am in loss of words. Heavenly food and atmosphere
