We are spoiled by Seven Gables in Pacific Grove nearby, but stayed here with a 3 for 2 nights deal. Hard not to compare. Breakfast was not nearly as good as Seven Gables, but access to Carmel is a definite plus. We loved walking over to take in the lovely shops. Service was good, but the heat lamp in our bathroom was broken and un-fixable. Views are nice but construction on a house literally next door marred the ambiance a bit. Sorry La Playa, but next time it's back to Seven Gables.
