We had a lovely three night stay. As with most places in Carmel, signage is discreet, so we drove past the hotel and front office once before we found them both! The hotel is centrally located on a hillside, so the view of the ocean from our room was lovely.
Our room was large, modern and spotlessly clean. It had a corner fireplace (which we didn't light) and a lovely balcony where we could sit and enjoy a view of the ocean. We also appreciated having the small fridge in the room, especially since there is a general store near the hotel where you can buy fruit, bottled water etc. to take on a day's outing.
We felt that this hotel gave us excellent value for money in an expensive location and if we return to Carmel, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This place is absolutely the best deal in town. We've stayed here before and are always extremely happy with the location, cleanliness, service and views from the rooms. There are other hotels in Carmel at 3 times the rate of this one that do not compare. Our suite was a true suite, two sleeping areas, two full bathrooms and very comfortable. And, staff is always eager to help with everything from fresh towels to dinner recommendations. We will come back to this location again.

Room, staff, and morning breakfast was excellent. We booked a balcony room which was large, well appointed with a wonderful view and quiet. Perfect location was walking about town.

The Hotel was hard to find because of the sign being so small. We were new to the area and even though we were exactly where the directions led us to, it was hard to find at night. We were pleasantly surprised about this Best Western. It is situated in the heart of the downtown Carmel shopping district.

The bathroom was GORGEOUS and huge. We stayed in room 55 and had an amazing view of the bay when we woke up to a beautiful sunrise. There was an electric fireplace and the room was very comfortable. We did get a free upgrade to this room because they had sold the last one of the other so very lucky for us!

We would certainly stay here again, and recommend you do to!

This Best Western is in the best location in Carmel. A block away from Ocean Avenue and near all the restaurants and shops. It is not directly in the heart of all the shops or restaurants which was a plus for us. But the hotel is definitely walking distance away. The hotel is very clean, neat and worth the money. The hotel breakfasts are simple but nutrious and enough to get your day started. Hotel staff is vey nice and friendly.

...this is a quaint, well maintained hotel in an excellent location in Carmel. We had a corner room on the 2nd floor with no a/c or fireplace. It happened to be a very warm August night so the room was uncomfortable even w/ window open, but not unbearable. Noise was mostly normal pedestrian, trucks, and seagulls. Regardless, I was very impressed with how clean the room was and found the bathroom roomy, clean, and homey. The office staff is helpful, all you need to do is ask. The beautiful flowers on the property give it a charming appearance. So what didn't I like about this Inn? Although the breakfast room is nicely decorated and clean, the breakfast itself really, really needs to be kicked up a notch. How about less starchy foods and more protein like scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, yogurt? How about some FRESH fruit? I am not on any sort of trendy diet, just looking to start off my day on a healthy note. And for close to $200/night, it shouldn't be too hard to accomodate. Also, since our room was on the second floor, we had to drive around the property to the back parking lot and use stairs. Perhaps it was an oversight by the office staff not to mention the elevators vs. stairs. This is by no means a deal breaker, but just something to consider if you are elderly or handicapped or have back problems. Would I stay here again? YES!, but would probably go elsewhere for breakfast.

As part of our “Garlic & Grapes” (Gilroy Garlic Festival & Wine Country) we wanted to spend some time in Carmel. As usual, I consulted TripAdvisor for places to stay. This is the one time I was disappointed by reviewers’ recommendations.

It may have been that we had the misfortune of booking our two days at the same time that a wedding party booked theirs, but I don’t think it would matter. Two faults stood out: 1) Thin walls, and 2) No air conditioning. Normally, in cool weather where a/c is not needed, that wouldn’t matter at all. But having no a/c meant we had to leave our windows open (no privacy) and our sleep was interrupted by party goers, garbage trucks, and screaming kids.

The walls were so thin, we had to whisper, as I knew WE could hear others in their rooms. (An aside: Spent a few hours one night listening to someone clear their throat. Ugh.)

Compared to the other Best Western where we stayed in Gilroy, the breakfast here was paltry and minimal. Didn’t matter much to us, as we found some great places for breakfast in Carmel, but to some of the families who were looking for value, it might be a deterrent.

One saving grace is that it is literally steps away for a fantastic restaurant: Piatti (see my review). We truly enjoyed our dinner there and would return in a heartbeat.

ADVICE: If you are looking for a place in Carmel, there are tons of Bed & Breakfasts and small inns. Ask about the walls (concrete or block is best), the privacy, and the breakfast.
