On a Saturday in Carmel for lunch we chose an appetizer and a Caesar Salad. The appetizer was an artichoke and steamed shrimp with aioli sauce. The shrimp were fair the artichoke and aioli sauce were excellent. Tomatoes were flavorless; an odd thing given that the Carmel Valley and virtually every chain store in Monterey/ Carmel offer a bounty of perfect heirloom tomatoes at the present time.
This is what I mean about striving for greatness as 2/4 things on a $15 appetizer should all be excellent ingredients.
The Caesar Salad was very good but not excellent.
This note is a gentle push to management to strive for excellence even if the current situation is comfortable as a restaurant.
