Beautiful road to slowly drive down first to catch the views of the ocean and also check out the stunning homes. Then find a place to park and walk along the beach. Beautiful. It is a little chilly even in late June. So be sure to wear layers.

We unfortunately came here on the last day of the US open so it was partially closed, but we were able to get to it right before Carmel beach and it was amazing. The houses were beautiful and the road was not congested at all. We stopped at Carmel beach it was so pretty. Would love to come spend more time in this area.
populated by elves and magicians. And artists.
With breathtaking natural beauty and character to spare, Carmel-by-the-Sea is a restorative place to spend a day, a weekend, or a lifetime.
Great drive, bike or walk. There are lots of places where you can walk down to the and parking. The homes are so interesting, don’t forget to check them out too.
Fantastic visiting point and a must see on the tour of California, the town is spotlessly clean and whilst parking is a problem, it’s well worth the stress.
It was more of my wife's idea. We walked to the small beach area and it was crowded. I noticed this Scenic Road Walkway on my Google Map and so we decided to walk it. If you don't have time, you can drive through it (one way).
The walk is about a mile, maybe 1.5 one way. We walked back and so it was a good 2-3 mile walk. We noticed the locals using this path for their walks and jogs.
The walk is something else. We stopped often to take pictures of the beach and trees and ocean, and of the many exotic homes that line the walk. Excellent!
