On our 25th anniversary, we decided to rent the cottages that we always dreamt of going to when we were first married. At the time, we were kids in our early 20's and couldn't afford to stay here, but 25 years later, we decided to make the trip.

The cottages look exactly the same. Very quaint, clean, and pet friendly as is most of the surrounding area. Flowers and well kept grounds with kind and inviting staff members who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. My daughter called the front desk and helped her pick out a cake from the local bakery and they picked it up for her. They had it in our room waiting for us. So kind, and the cake was gorgeous.

My dogs had bowls and bedding waiting for them in the cottage itself. We stayed in the Blue Bird Cottage, facing the street. It was so pretty. The floors were wooden and had a little creek to them, but that only added to the charm. Upstairs had two small beds and a windows that looked out towards the trees and the street. Streets are nice here.

My daughter also bought the beach bonfire package for us, which included some chairs, wood, kindling. It was nice out and the fire was perfect. The beach at the end of the street was just as we recalled. White sandy beaches with cypress trees. The view was amazing as always and the beach was dog friendly, BUT CLEAN.

Carmel is VERY dog friendly, but also very nice and well maintained.

The rooms upstairs had a fan which was suffice if you opened the window to get some movement. There was a small refrigerator and the tiled bathroom did not have a tub; but that was okay. The water was not very hot, however we did not expect it to be and the pressure was a little weak (the unit is old and charming). The windows downstairs opened to the street on one side and the garden on the other. The king sized bed was very comfortable. They had a portable air conditioner that did the trick for us. It doesn't get very hot, so the small a/c unit was fine.

This was a relaxing trip for us. It was beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. The room had wine waiting for us and it was very nice. The reception, daily, was, well... okay at best, with some cheese and wine. But again, the staff was friendly and several occupants sat around the fire pit and talked a bit. It was great. The breakfast was one of those quickie kind of snack stations set up near the fire pit, but it didn't matter because just up the street was the most fabulous breakfast restaurant in town.

We WILL return. This place is definitely one for our books. Freeway close, quite, quaint, clean, pet friendly, beach is walking distance, shops everywhere, just the whole package.

You won't go wrong if you stay here. Thanks Guys!!

Room Tip: We only stayed in the Blue Bird Cottage, but if you have kids, this would be a good unit to choose...

What a beautiful story! This is the type of review that makes working in the hospitality business meaningful. We're happy to hear that a little extra effort on our part made your stay an unforgettable one. The older style of our cottages gives them a special charm but the plumbing can be difficult. Your understanding is appreciated. Thank you for writing such a detailed and thoughtful review and we look forward to a return visit soon.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple nights as a weekend get away. This inn couldn't be situated in a better location. It's 2 blocks from the ocean and 1 block from the heart of carmel by the sea shopping/restaurants. We parked the car and loved walking everywhere. The staff at the inn was incredible; so attentive and we really enjoyed talking to them during the breakfast and evening "cocktail hour". We actually grew to really look forward to the wine and cheese by the fire pits because it was an opportune time to meet other guests and learn about the area.

We stayed in the concourse suite which had a fire place (we surprisingly used several times as the fog rolled in) and the most comfortable bed. Also a super cute deck off the back. They have great bath products too! I was worried about being so close to the office but we didn't even notice once inside.

The town is adorable with so many great restaurants that we feel compelled to return! And we will for sure stay here again or their sister resort the cypress inn for a different experience. Loved every minute! Oh, don't miss hiking point lobos. What a treat!

Thanks for the thoughtful review. I'll pass on the kind words to the staff. It always makes our day to hear a positive review. We're happy the Concourse Suite was a perfect fit for your stay. Since you enjoyed the private patio and fireplace, I suggest trying the Porpoise Room next time you stay with us. It has a cozy fireplace and a private patio area with a relaxing fountain. I'm happy you brought up visiting Point Lobos. This is one attraction we suggests to guests which never disappoints. We hope to see you back again soon.

Great little B&B, think we upset the check in lady as we were late (6.30pm) and didn't get a great welcome but hey ho.

Room was lovely, slight toilet smell but got used to it and we had to switch the fridge off at night as it was really noisy.

Breakfast could have been a bit more interesting but adequate, had to get own black tea from our room though as none available.

We had a small group of seven. We had such a great time. From the moment we arrived, we knew we picked the right spot. Wine and Cheese, and the very nice fire pits. Right in the heart of town, and yet a very comfortable setting. I had the Sea Otter room and it was perfect. Very comfortable and nice and bright and airy. Cyndi was working at the time of our arrival and was extremely helpful in finding places to eat and making sure our stay was the best it could be. I can't wait to come back. Love the location the room and the setting.

I can not stress enough what an amazing place this is. The grounds are beautiful, the bedroom we stayed in (Dolphin) was so cozy and quant (& clean!) We were able to park our jeep right outside of our bedroom door, so easy parking. There was wood for the fire in our room every night which was so romantic because we were celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary, and a baby on the way. The walk to the beach is extremely short. And you are located next to a lot of really cool shops (restaurants, bars, boutiques). The staff is so helpful, friendly and wonderful. They really made us feel at home. They were there whenever we need them. (Especially Shadow, the grounds kitty cat!) We were so thankful for Peggys hospitality, made us feel right at home. We're already planning our second trip, right after our baby boy is born!

Room Tip: We loved the Dolphin room. High ceiling, nice bathroom, and an extra bed for a friend or little one.

Last week we took a last minute trip to Carmel and were able to obtain a room in this dog friendly hotel at the last minute. The cabin we stayed in was large with a sitting room and large size bedroom and large bathroom. Overall it was clean and comfortable. The only negative we had was that the bathroom caulking around the tub need to be removed and redone as it looked dirty. Also the shower curtain was slightly ripped. The furniture could use a little up dating and there were a few small stains in the carpet. Perhaps this is because it is dog friendly?
The continental breakfast was excellent and more than enough to satisfy the both of us.
The hotel was very dog friendly and the hotel's location, just a few blocks from the beach, was perfect for our dog.
The staff was friendly and accommodating and they made diner reservations for us at the Cypress Inn where we were able to sit inside with our dog.
We were able to obtain a fair price for the room but if we had to pay full price I think the rooms would be overpriced.
Overall a good experience and we would return.
