My friends and I stopped in for a beer and an appetizer while in Carmel. The place smells bad, and the staff seemed uninterested in our presence, however the topper was that a smashed cockroach was on the bottom of the plate that our server brought out our calamari on....needless to say, we left. We won't be back.

This is such a gem I really should be keeping it a secret! I love the atmosphere of this place. It reminds me of the Tap Room at the Lodge but without the prices. The food is great, especially the shrimp tacos and enchiladas. You can get a beer and watch sports or in the evening get a fancy cocktail and listen to live music. It even has a fireplace. Cozy, friendly and just a little hard to find - but make the effort and you will be rewarded.

My wife and I were recently in Carmel and after reading previous reviews, decided to watch the NFL football games at Jack London's. As other reviews have mentioned, it is a little difficult to find. After walking past the restaurant several times at 10:00 am on a Sunday morning, the bartender (Ceasar) opened the door and invited us in. They normally don't open until 11:00 am but he was happy to let us watch the games and serve us drinks while he set up. The menu is solid (nothing fancy) and they have decent happy hour specials. We went back a secont time later in the week for some tacos! If you're looking for a good, solid place to hang out in Carmel, Jack London's is your place.

Had lunch and dinner at this restaurant. It's hidden away, down a sopping arcade. The food was good and the service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was old club/bar, with dark wood panelling, leather booths, model airplanes hanging from the ceiling.
Traditional bar and grill fare. Out table for dinner had halibut fish and chips, grilled halibut and mushroom pasta. Everyone was happy with their meals. The food is not fancy or cutting edge, but it is good.

A quick and easy place to eat which stays open a little later than most other places in town. Great choice of beer and friendly staff. Very reasonable prices as Carmel can be a little pricey. No need to book, staff took great care of us and we would certainly return
