“Outstanding Experience at Rio Grill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

We had a party of eight from out-of-state dining for the first time at the Rio Grill. This restaurant had been recommended to us by a local couple who could not say enough good things about the dining experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We were made to feel welcomed and the general manager spent time with us including taking pictures using our fancy digital camera of his kitchen to show us some of their culinary creations. The food and service were excellent and all the restaurant people that we interacted with had a wonderful attitude and were very gracious. I highly recommend the Rio Grill for a wonderful dining experience. This will be a dining experience that we will look forward to every time that we are in Carmel.

“Expectations exceeded!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

When my colleague Danny heard we would be passing though Carmel, he insisted we try Rio & specifically the artichoke. I will be thanking him for a long time. The artichoke was divine. The ribs were near the best I've had (could have been a bit more tender). The buffalo carpaccio was also a hit. Better reserve on holidays & weekends. It was full, but the service was still prompt.

“Never Disappointed!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

This great little gem is very popular with the locals. We are in Carmel at least once a month and its our go-to place the first night we arrive. To food, which has a Southwest flair, is consistently good and the specials offer a great variety to the regular menu. Most of the time you can just walk in, but on times when the Carmel/Pebble Beach area is crowded, you do need reservations. The wait staff works very hard to keep a great pace to your meal. When its crowded, it is a little noisy, but the atmosphere is always fun and packed with people enjoying their food! The bar is almost always full and the drinks are good.

“Good food and not so touristy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

We were looking for a place away from Cannery Row, where we would not be subject to the tourist prices they charge. Went to the front desk of the hotel where we we staying and they suggested this place and even made reservations for us. We arrived and they sat us immediately! Food was good, service was good and the price fair for what we got. A bit noisy, but it was packed with people all of whom seemed to be having a good time.

“Carmel without the tourists”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

Once you are tired of all the crowds in Carmel by the Sea take a short little drive to the Crossroads.

The food has a southwest flair so if you'd like a little spice in your life you will enjoy it here.

The atmosphere is bright and noisy, there is a very popular bar/lounge at the front of the restaurant and their house cocktails are very good.

The portions are large and quite innovative, meat lovers must try the deep fried pork shank.

The serviceis pleasant but a little weak, it is a busy restaurant so that might be part of the reason. Our dessert was forgotten until we asked about it but it arrived quickly after the prompting.
