Just attended a hospitality Open House at the newly renovated Anton & Michel. They did a wonderful job of updating the appearance and opening up the space. The bar is much more open, with a beautiful Carmel Stone wall and fireplace. As you enter the restaurant, your eyes are drawn straight back to the lovely courtyard and fountain, available for outside dining and pet friendly. Their menu has been updated, however their service is still elegant and refined.
Two extras during the Open House were the wines being offered. First tried the Mira blended white, combination of Savignon Blanc and Chardonnay; crisp, elegent, nice finish. Then, on the recommendation of a friend, I tried the Pinot Noir; absolutely heavenly! I'm not a huge red wine drinker, but I would have that anytime! Tom Kaucic, Director of Operations, was friendly, knowledgeable and fun to talk with. You may have heard of this winery, they're aging their wines in the ocean off Charleston, S.C. a very interesting concept.
The other wine being offered was from New Zealand, Oyster Bay. I tried their Pinot as well, and although not nearly as complex and smooth as the Mira, it would make a wonderful everyday wine. Jason Denney, their No. Cal sales rep, was fun, upbeat and a great mirror for the wines.
