Description: As a restaurant with an impressive contemporary menu, Grasing’s offers the finest coastal cuisine paired with a ‘Wine Spectator’ awarding winning wine list featuring the best California wines. For a true Carmel experience, enjoy dinner on the pet-friendly patio. In March of 1998 Kurt opened the door to his namesake restaurant: Grasing’s. In an impressive first year it received enthusiastic reviews and was voted Best New Restaurant and Best Chef by the readers of Adventures in Dining Magazine. Grasings has been featured in Bon Appetit Magazine’s Best of the Year issue in 2004, and was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Business of the Year award that same year. Carmel Magazine proclaimed Grasing’s the Critic’s Choice. Grasing’s was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Restaurant of the Year as well as a Celebrated Chef of the Year Award from the American Culinary Federation – Monterey Chapter, in 2007. In 2013 Grasing’s was voted Best Restaurant in Carmel by the readers of the Monterey County Weekly. Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll named Grasing’s the Best Restaurant for a Steak in 2014 and 2015. Open Table diners conferred a 2015 Diner’s Choice Award on Grasing’s and Trip Advisor has given Grasing’s a Certificate of Excellence in 2015 and 2016. 2016 also brought Grasing’s a win for the Best Restaurant for a Special Occasion in 2016 from the Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll. In 2010, Kurt revamped Grasing’s by constructing a new bar and lounge along with completing a restaurant make-over. The warm hues and contemporary decor in the restaurant and bar gives Grasing’s an even more inviting atmosphere, giving it a new look with the same great food and first-rate service to which guests are accustomed.

“Romantic Lunch in Carmel at Grasing's!”
Reviewed May 13, 2008

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally get to when we visited Carmel this past weekend, we were seated at a window table which was very nicely appointed, the dining room is very elegant and the service was friendly and attentive. I started with the Butter Lettuces salad which was very fresh and the Crab Cakes were perfectly prepared wtih a cucumber salad and Aioli dipping sauce.

Grasings has a very good wine list, I chose a local Chardonnay which was perfect with the Crab Cakes. My husband enjoyed his Chicken Foccacia sandwich, also. We will definitely return to Grasing's again and again. Dinner here would be a real treat next time we're in the area. Reservations can be booked on OpenTable for Grasing's

“wonderful in every way!!”
Reviewed September 22, 2007

we ate dinner at grasings to celebrate our 7th anniversary. we were treated to two glasses of champagne and even better service. our waiter was exceptional. he was gracious and kind and never seemed overbearing. the food was great. my husband had a steak while i tried the pork tenderloin. to top it off, we each had the chocolate souffle for dessert. very romantic place. we highly recommend grasings!

“Terrific dinner”
Reviewed August 28, 2007

Not sure why this restaurant is not at the top of the list. It was just great. The service was excellent, and the food, from unique, delicious salads to entrees that you couldn't stop at, to a mouth-watering dessert were all quite perfect. Expect the bill to top $50/person, and easily could be more, but worth the price.

“Consistently rated the best by locals”
Reviewed August 4, 2007

Great food enjoyed by all six of us at lunch. Prices for food and wine were reasonable. Wait staff pleasant and efficient. A home run!
p.s. We travel and dine out frequently. Trust us when we say it is good.

“good service disappointing food”
Reviewed February 6, 2007

We visit Carmel every year and remembered grasings as an excellent restaurant for lunch. This time we chose to have dinner and were very disappointed. The cabbage salad was very good but the rest of the meal was mediocre at best. Stay away from the roasted artichoke. it is flavorless and very little crabmeat (from the claw not backfin lump) compirsed the "tomato crab salad" that accompanies it. We had he special seafood that night that was left to cook to long as it was very tough. The service was okay but the dishes we requested split did not come splilt from the kitchen.
