Description: As a restaurant with an impressive contemporary menu, Grasing’s offers the finest coastal cuisine paired with a ‘Wine Spectator’ awarding winning wine list featuring the best California wines. For a true Carmel experience, enjoy dinner on the pet-friendly patio. In March of 1998 Kurt opened the door to his namesake restaurant: Grasing’s. In an impressive first year it received enthusiastic reviews and was voted Best New Restaurant and Best Chef by the readers of Adventures in Dining Magazine. Grasings has been featured in Bon Appetit Magazine’s Best of the Year issue in 2004, and was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Business of the Year award that same year. Carmel Magazine proclaimed Grasing’s the Critic’s Choice. Grasing’s was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Restaurant of the Year as well as a Celebrated Chef of the Year Award from the American Culinary Federation – Monterey Chapter, in 2007. In 2013 Grasing’s was voted Best Restaurant in Carmel by the readers of the Monterey County Weekly. Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll named Grasing’s the Best Restaurant for a Steak in 2014 and 2015. Open Table diners conferred a 2015 Diner’s Choice Award on Grasing’s and Trip Advisor has given Grasing’s a Certificate of Excellence in 2015 and 2016. 2016 also brought Grasing’s a win for the Best Restaurant for a Special Occasion in 2016 from the Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll. In 2010, Kurt revamped Grasing’s by constructing a new bar and lounge along with completing a restaurant make-over. The warm hues and contemporary decor in the restaurant and bar gives Grasing’s an even more inviting atmosphere, giving it a new look with the same great food and first-rate service to which guests are accustomed.

We used to enjoy eating at Grasings; yet this might be our last time. The food is always excellent and the service very good. However, the host put a huge damper on the evening with his arrogant attitude and snooty aire! For an extremely expensive restaurant, you'd think that the person you first meet would have a pleasant personality, This guy doesn't have one!

There are too many good restaurants in Carmel to eat, than have to put up with an arrogant host like the one at Grasings. Our advice? Skip this restaurant until they get friendlier personnel.

Carmel has some great restaurants but this one was my favorite. I ordered the vegetarian mixed grill which may sound boring but it wasn't. The others ordered pastas and really fantastic, as we are food sharers. Portions are generous, in fact we moved our dinner reservation to later as we all over ate. Absolutely will go back.

We ate here on two different occasions and found the food to be average for what they charge. I had to send back my food back once for them to get it right. The service was a bit slow, but went down hill after that.

Their burger was the only item that was good.

Given all of the food choices in Carmel, we're not rushing to go back there anytime soon.

We had dinner at Grasing's for our 50th wedding anv. and it was excellant and the service was very good. One of the better restaurant's that we have been to, we split a steal because the portions were very large. A good dinner with your best friend, a good bottle of wine, great service what better can you ask for.

Dining perhaps a dozen times I can guarantee Kurt Grasing has all the ingrediants of the finer restaurants. Ambiance, location adjacent to our historic fire house, too many appetizer decisions and my personal addictions to the Heritage pork medallians w/ a prefect red wine reduction and one of two great peninsula paellas (Fandango) and happy friends are enough reasons to go. If you must go out on a rainy night go to Grasings. The ambiance took on a speacial charm that night.
Hope to see you there, Kurt. Seems I only see you at the P.O.
