My husband and I were very much looking forward to our annual trip to Carmel. We had missed being able to eat at one of our favorite restaurants last trip. We have been making Casanovas one of our favorite dinner experiences for over 30 years. The ambiance was gone, loud, crowded, and they no longer had staff that knew what good service was. I don't recal a trip in the past where the chair wasn't pulled out and a napkin layed out for you. Not this trip. The "waitress" (nothing close to the fine food servers weve had in the past) didn't even return to ask how our meal was...it was barley warm, cold plated, sause so salty you couldn't eat it, cold dry bread, not the freash baked variety I recall, tables crammed so close it was like eating in a cafeteria with the food quality about the same. I don't mind spending $100 a plate if the food and service warrents, but they won't be on my list of places to eat ever again.
