“Wonderful foodand atmosphere, though pricey”

One of the better Carmel restaurants. Nice staff, interesting menu with american and Italian choices. Quite pricey; though done perfectly, the filet mignon was 42$ Cute off the beaten path; also serves nice lunches with some outdoor seating.

“Good food, great atomosphere”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Actually much larger space than you would think. Like most places in Carmel, this is a dog friendly spot, even though it's quite nice.
Our group had the stuffed pasta, oso buco, rack of lamb and scallops and everyone was satisfied. Good selection of local wines and a full bar.

“The best dining experience I've had in the US.”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Took our annual girls trip to Carmel. This restaurant was a highlight of our week. Food was incredible and a beautiful venue. Don't let the street view fool you. It looks quite small but its a trip into the old country with rustic indoor or outdoor patios to dine. If given the chance, tour the wine cellar and special hidden treasures in which you could host a special event.

“Carmel Romance at its finest”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

I cannot go to Carmel without dining at Casanova. There are few things in the world (outside of Paris itself) that are as romantic as a dinner for two on the front porch, squirreled away in a dim corner or in the back garden of Casanova. This is French the French way -- classic, straight forward, purest. Don't expect the earth to move -- that's after dinner. Do expect excellent service, a delightfully authentic French menu that delivers the promise with any dish you pick (so pick your favorites) and a Carmel locale so armpit deep in Carmel Charm that you might feel like you hear music in the background. While the desserts are, for me, just a little disappointing, not so for the fruit and cheese board. So, make sure you save a full glass of vino, order that instead of the creme brulee, and make a date with the one you love. Sure to score anniversary/engagement points! Virtually no bad tables except perhaps one or two in the center of the garden.

“Positive experience in upscale Carmel setting”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

Not having returned to Carmel for many years, the old haunts have changed hands, including our memorable Tuck Box. The shopkeeper kindly referred us to this resto for lunch, which is on the fringe of the center-ville. It is a large resto in a former home. We checked it out an hour before and returned at 11:30 and asked for the terrace.
We wanted a taste of the area and ordered the roasted artichoke. This appetizer was absolutely divine with lots of garlicy flavor. The aioli dipping sauce was a perfect match. The rest of my lunch consisted of a generous linguini scampi and a coffee served up in a tray with a biscotti and 3 types of sugar. The lunch cost $53 for two, and was probably the best lunch of the side trip into Pacific Grove and Carmel.
Go there and make a reservation. It was busy and crowded by the time we departed.
