This used to be a fantastic place, now the food is something I could get from a Microwave dinner and the noise level requires ear protection. The only good thing is they take pets and their service is usually good. That is unless you want to linger. This was the quickest dinner we had during the entire stay, in and out in 45 minutes. The Seafood was overcooked and the Cannelloni Romagnola was over sauced. Taka a picture outside because it is a great photo, then walk around the corner to Grasing’s, they take pets as well and the food is fantastic.

The service was great. The sommelier comes right to your table to discuss wine choices. We told him we didn't want to spend $100 for a bottle, and he recommended a great bottle for $40. I had the bean soup and my husband had the heirloom tomato salad. Both were excellent. It is a limited menu if you don't eat seafood, but the food was excellent. You will have a high bill, but it's worth it.

Casanova's owners emigrated to the USA from Belgium and they have performed an astounding feat of taking their customers from Carmel, through a portal directly to Europe.

We celebrated our 30th anniversary here and it made us remember our 10th anniversary at d'Vijff Vlieghen in Amsterdam. A twenty year and several thousand mile change in environment....

We both enjoyed the very light and extremely tasty spinach Gnocci Casanova for a starter, then proceeded on to Casanova's cannelloni. Wow! Best we've ever had. Truly prepared in the fashion of European peasant fare - nice balance of herbs and cheese, nothing hitting your palate in a wall of taste. This was to be savored.

The service from our waiter Alejo was superb; swift and efficient yet friendly and not rushed.

We will return!

Ok, besides the fact that the restaurant was looking very cute, warm and quaint, I don't remember as much about the other foods but the PROFITEROLE. We order profiteroles wherever they have them, and this place blown us away with how delicious they are! I am terrible at describing the details, but it's good, really. If you go to Carmel, check them out.
