Our hotel recommended this place and we were very happy with the result. Everyone talks about the fried wontons and salsa and it was an addictive way to start the evening. The sea bass and tuna entrees were fabulous. The service was attentive and friendly. We were too stuffed for dessert (we thought) and the manager brought us two small, one scoop sundaes -- one with chocolate and one with caramel. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. The layout of the restaurant also makes it family-friendly.

After the reading the great reviews, we had dinner here, and it was really great! The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant is very quaint. This is an American/Japanese fusion restaurant, which should suit all tastes. The thin fried wonton and salsa with ginger they provide was delicious, and I couldn't stop eating them. My wife had the Seared Ahi, and I had the Almond Crusted SeaBass, and they were great. The price was reasonable as well. Overall, we really enjoyed the food, and we'd definitely come back again.

I can't remember the last time we had a meal that was flawless from start to finish. The ginger salsa with fried wontons was great. We had the abalone ($50 and worth it) and the almond sea bass. Both were cooked to perfection. Moist with a crunch on the outside. Dessert was a banana tempura sundae that was wonderful. More than just cooked well, everything is so inventive and different than anything I've ever had. But never at risk of losing the flavors just to be different. Other restaurants can give you a good meal, but it's one that you can get anywhere. The Flying Fish is an experience you can't get anywhere else.

Not sure what was up tonight, but the server was asleep. The food was great but experience fell short of a ZAGOT Rating when the menus were left on the table, used plates left on the table, I ended up busing the table myself. On top of that, there was a strange, hobo-looking man sitting at the hostess stand having dinner....that's weird. We thought is was just us, but an adjoining table was complaining about the same thing, laissez faire service. In fairness to the cook staff, someone needs to manage the front room of this place to match the superb kitchen efforts.

Food and service is top notch. View menu online before you go. Closed for lunch. Cozy, small and popular definitely call for reservations. For a party of 2 looking for romance ask to sit by the fireplace.
