“Amazing secluded beach!”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

Brilliant colours, spectacular views-the steep stairs may look intimidating but trust me, the gibson beach and China cove is worth it!

The China cove beach access was closed, however we were able to go to the Gibson beach and had an amazing time just marvelling the beauty and enjoying the waves.

“Stunning Beauty!”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

This cove was so beautiful. It was extra special because the sea otters were out playing in it. I could have spent hours here. The water was so bright and clear, I felt like I was on a tropical island!

“Beautiful, Lonesome Beach”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

We visited Point Lobos specifically to see China Cove and Gibson Beach and it was absolutely worth it. The seals were pupping during our visit so unfortunately we were not able to walk down to the beach in China Cove, but the Gibson Beach access was open and desolate and just unbelievable. We were the only ones on the stretch of white sand beach hemmed in by the cliffs. Perfect for a picnic if you plan ahead. Parking is $10. The water in China Cove really is a rich turquoise green. A photog's paradise!

Note: they sell maps for $2 at the entrance to Point Lobos but there are signs and paved roads throughout the park and if if you have Google Maps on your phone you already have a map in your pocket.

On our honeymoon we were delighted to stumble across the our "own" beach. We visited on a quiet day and enjoyed soaking up the spring sunshine on this beautiful beach.
