“A couple of blocks from the beach”
Reviewed September 20, 2012 via mobile

If you can bear "risking it" by just turning up we hooked an amazingly good deal for a small but cosy little room. When we travel..the room is somewhere to leave your case and a warm bed at night. So close to the beach where we watched the sunset with dolphins, otters and interesting wildlife.
Breakfast was lovely and the staff were all very friendly and accomidating. We would stay again.
Lovely little town. The Normandy Inn was a great find.

We stayed at The Normandy Inn for two nights. My husband and I felt as though we we given the last room available. While quaint, there was nothing special about it. We heard everything from toilets flushing to showers running to the couple next door having sex! Was a very disappointing experience! Wall are vert thin and you can hear everything! The only reason we stayed for two nights is that there is so much to do in Carmel, we didn't want to spend time looking for another hotel! The grounds are lovely, location can't be beat, the breakfast variety is good! Stay clear of Room 315!

Room Tip: Don't take Room 315!

Stayed in suite with king size bed and separate living area with kitchenette and fireplace. Rooms very charming. Bathroom a bit dated. It was pricey but Carmel is. Perfect location and when you opened door to our room the pool was right outside. It was small but a lovely setting. Nice continental breakfast included. Would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at Normandy Inn for 4 nights the last week of August 2012. We had previewed the inn while on another stay in Carmel before making our reservations. The inn is clean, the grounds are flush with flowers, our room was well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast provided is very satisfying and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. We will return to the Normandy Inn in Carmel. The location and the price point are unbeatable. The bathrooms are dated but very functional and not a detraction to the experience.

When you choose a hotel in Carmel, you want to be as close to the beach as possible and, in the meantime, to be in a short distance from the restaurants and cafes. Normandy Inn gives you both. It's a nice quiet hotel, typical Carmelian, with polite staff, clean rooms, decent continental breakfast (hard-boiled eggs included), and a lot of flowers everywhere. On a negative side: the room we stayed at was small and very basic ($200), there was no view, and they do not allow dogs (which is not typical for Carmel and probably may be explained by the presence of a nice old cat on premises). If you pay $80 more you will get a cottage suite with more space and a beautiful garden.

My husband and I spent 3 nights August 29- Sept. 1,2012 at the Normandy Inn. The location is central and the inn is flush with flowers everywhere. Our room was quite a spacious size overlooking the pool. All assistance we needed when things didn't work was instantaneous and very friendly. The breakfast cafe provided a decent breakfast in their own breakfast cafe with very fresh pastries daily. When needed, the heat in both the bathroom and bedroom were instant electric heaters.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights, and had a wonderful experience. We booked the delux fireplace room with the extra dressing area, and it was just perfect for our needs. The Inn is very quaint, and right on a main street among the restaurants and shops. Wallking around Carmel is a great experience, wtih everything you need right there. We did do the Big Sur drive and the views and scenery were stunning. Carmel is a lot cooler than I had realized, so if you don't live in the area make sure you bring a coat or sweater for the night.

The staff at the Inn were very helpful and enchanced our stay. All the flowers and plants were so pretty. The continental breakfast was just that wiich in honesty is nothing special. We ate at Em Lee's for breakfast and it was wonderful.
