This is listed as a Bed and Breakfast...well, the so called "breakfast" consists of store bought muffins cut in halves and also sliced to make it look like something different. There was a plate of sliced apples, orange slices, bagels and orange juice and coffee. I was VERY disappointed. There are several nice bakeries near by where they could get some good pastries . They could also get some kind of berry as well. There was nothing to even warm the muffins in.
There is not enough off street parking for the number of rooms and the parking stalls are extremely narrow...your passenger would need to exit the vehicle prior to parking.
The juniper room had a gas fireplace that had NO heat control, so you either baked or froze. The shower was very small and the shower head was mounted about chest level so I had to crouch down to wash my hair. Also, the shampoo and soap was about the cheapest they could find and the towels were very rough. I went here to spend my one year anniversary and told the establishment hoping for some kind of treat, but there was nothing, not even a mention of congratulations.
Needless to say, I most likely won't be staying here again.

We spent two nights and three days with Cody,( our Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix) in Carmel, staying at the Carmel Fireplace Inn because they accept dogs. The cottage charm in this bed and breakfast lodge was in keeping with Carmel. It was perfect. The room was large and had a fireplace and a full bath. We were on an end unit with lots of white shuttered windows that opened up to a full garden with a riot of colored flowers and shrubs that gave us seclusion. The wainscoting on the walls was a 50's accent but made the room more quaint.
The tub was very small so after one bath, I took showers. Plenty of towels. The innkeepers are friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner unit or just explain what you need. They are dog friendly for a limited amount of r...

We have stayed at the Fireplace Inn many times and have always enjoyed our stay, not matter
what room we've reserved. Even though it is an older establishment and rooms a little cramped the are clearn and comfortable. The continental breakfast is nice, although it could
stand a little variety and the dining area nicely kept. Big problem - terrible paking. Tight spaces and for anything larger than a Hyundai Sonata risks some serious dings from cars
parked next to you. Also, no handicapped parking accomodations. Can park on the street, if
you can find it, but if you need handicap parking you could wind up half a block away. However, still a nice place to stay and great location for walking around Crmel.

Room Tip: Try to get one of the larger rooms and not face San Carlos, a bit noisy.

I should have written this sooner but I hate trashing places-however I can't get this old dirty place out of my mind.
We went in May for a 2 day stay for our anniversay and stayed in the Santa Fe room . It was very small but that would have been o.k. except it was very dirty, the windows had mold all over them and would not close right, the door was filthy, the wicker furniture which held the coffee maker was filthy with dirt and dust all through the wicker, the molding on the floor had been removed and never had been replaced showing the ripped wallpaper, the carpet had stains and what topped everything off was the sink backed up the night before we were leaving and could not be used. We were told someone could come and fix it later on but that meant leaving our room for a stranger to come in and trusting them to clean up their mess. We decided to use the small shower to brush our teeth etc. They did take off a very small amount for our inconvience, but it was not worth it.
Carmel is a beautiful place and we have been coming for many many years. (We were married their 39years ago and will continue to keep coming back but we won't be staying at the Carmel Fireplace Inn!!!!.

My wife and I stayed at the Carmel Fireplace Inn at the beginning on November and loved it. Tina was the lady running the Inn and she was very warm and friendly and did a great job at making us feel welcome and at home. A nice touch is complimentary port and sherry at 6:00pm wich gives you a great chance to mingle with the other guests who are typically travellers like yourselves. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious with a gas fireplace in every one. Breakfast was your typical continental and quite adequate. We really enjoyed our night there and would certainly return.

Stayed at this Inn during Concorso Italiano. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Ocean Ave where you Concours D'Elegance took place, close to grocery stores and plenty of shops and restaurants. A few blocks from the beach as well. Very charming room and friendly staff.

This property looked cute online, but.... It has paper thin walls. We heard every coming and going, conversation, and car/truck that drove by. Talk about no sleep! We also upgraded to a room with a fireplace - big mistake! The rooms smells like old gas stoves that stink. We were scared that we were going to soak that smell into our skin and clothes. The shower heads are from the 1950's, low, but work ok. The amenities in the bathrooms are 'Breck'....didn't know they still made that stuff.
As for the breakfast, these people have apparently not heard of the health movement. Our choices were full fat bagels with full fat cream cheese, full fat banana bread and then full fat muffins. They also cut up apples and oranges. Coffee or tea, with you guessed it...full fat milk. Not even a latte option which is so easy now. No cereal or yogurt or fresh berries. Virtually, no effort into breakfast. The inn also has a happy hour in which they serve sherry. Sherry?? In the middle of the wine country?? What is wrong with this picture?
The best thing about this inn is the location, but there are plenty of other options right around this one.

Room Tip: Choosing a good room won't work here.
