“Welcoming Stay”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

This hotel is centally located in a quiet location, just off the main street. Very clean rooms with coffee machine and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was provided and delivered to the room. There is a welcoming fire in the office and coffee/tea and homebaked biscuits available to sit around and relax if you wished.
A nice comfortable stay in this lovely town

Room Tip: Room 11 is a good choice upstairs. On the corner and not attached to any other rooms, so very quiet.

We Found TJ on Reception to be very attentive and helpful. He Welcomed us to the area, Gave some Great advice on eating out. The Room was fantastic (Room 15), the jetted tub was Awesome, and the log fire made for a real good romantic atmosphere.

I stayed here for 3 nights and loved this place! I did not experience any of the problems mentioned in the average/poor reviews posted on this website....and it IS as cute and homely as shown in the pictures. I stayed in a single room on the upper floor. The bed was very comfortable, the room was much larger than I expected and clean. There was some noise from outside but the inn is on a quiet street and the noise I heard was minimal and no more than would be heard in any other hotel. The bathroom was big, modern, looked brand new and was super clean.

Breakfast is delivered to the door each morning in a cooler along with a newspaper. A menu is left in the room each day by housekeeping offering a choice of cereals, fruit, pastries, yoghurt and juices; after making your selection the menu is collected from under your door mat.

The fire pit outside is lovely. There is comfy benches surrounding it and its a nice location to spend the evening.

Location is great! The inn is located on a quiet side street but only a small block away from the main street where all the restaurants and shops are located - a 5 minute walk away. The beach is a little further away, probably around a 20 minute walk, it's all down hill to get there but coming back is a bit more tiring!

We stayed here one night on our way up the Pacific Coast Hwy with our children. From other reviews, we didn't have high expectations but were a little disappointed when we arrived. The room was big enough for us (we had the 3 double bed room, which accomodates 6), but there was a musty odor which made me feel like I was sleeping in my grandmother's basement! The hotel was not as cozy or charming as I had hoped from pictures & other reviews. Very little had been updated since it was originally built (old, outdated hardware and cracked tiles in the bathroom). On the plus side, it did bring back memories of my childhood...The price was reasonable (compared to other hotels in Carmel) and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. I think the owners could put a little money into updating the rooms and maintenance, but overall our stay was pleasant.

And a melatonin. This place is really cute, centrally located, and well run. But the walls are made of cardboard. The whole building shakes when any door in the building shuts. You can feel and hear every single closing door in the complex. So we got to listen to all 20 of our neighbors come home all night, and then depart..starting at 6am. Not the best nights sleep ive ever had. Perhaps worth staying for $59/night, but not worth the $208 we were charged. I feel ripped off and weary upon departure. Never staying here again.

Id recommend the carmel mission inn on rio road.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else. We asked for the quietest room in the place. Super loud and not at all peacef...

Stayed here for one night on our first ever trip to Carmel and it was a lovely place to stay - room and bathroom were huge and included everything you could need, staff were very friendly and helpful, plenty of free parking and everything was spotlessly clean.
It's in a great location too for exploring Carmel and its many quaint restaurants (we had a great meal in 'Le St Tropez' while there - delicious food).
Breakfast arrived at our door in the cooler bag that morning, it's a basic continental one but it does the trick. It did seem a little bit expensive but i think that's standard for Carmel from what we saw.
