I looked at several places for a special group of friends while we were visiting Carmel from California. I actually had picked a place ranked higher on TripAdvisor but changed my plans once I checked out this place. It is a small restaurant but had a lush atmosphere inside.
That evening we arrived at the restaurant early. The place was crowded (reservations are a must- thru OpenTable) but the staff was extremely accommodating and sat us at a bar which was connected to the kitchen. The chefs were extremely entertaining and kept us fascinated as they cooked. We were having such a good time that we decided to stay at the bar and have dinner there. The chef offered us two choices (1) eat off the menu or (2) have chef's choice. Half the group selected off the menu while the other half had chef's choice. Our group loved both options. We received three different appetizers, three entrees( my scallops we to die for), and three delicious desserts which we shared between us. All the time we were eating, we were conversing with the chef. The staff was extremely attentive to our needs. The cost was around $80 for us (which included wine). This restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip and I would highly recommend this place to other people. It is perfect for an intimate dinner or join the chef at the bar for an entertaining and informational French dining experience.
