Description: Mundaka is a Spanish style tapas restaurant in downtown Carmel, CA. It is the result of great friendships, a love of food and wine and music, and a long term romance with Spain and its culture. Open in March 2009, Mundaka continues to evolve daily with the creations of our chef Brandon Miller, and the musical musings of all our talented contributors. Mundaka aspires to be the hub for all that is tasty, fun, artistic, creative, and cultural in Carmel-by-the-sea. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Stumbled on the little place beside the Carmel liquor store. Great find, great atmosphere, good food, enthusiastic server, great value. Worth a try!

Really enjoyed this place. Tapas were excellent. The selection was moderate, but there was enough for me to be satisfied. Prices were a tad high for the tapas, but this was more than made up by the "party wine" (no questions asked...) we ordered at $5 per person. Not a bad Spanish wine actually, and we had a full bottle. The lamb miniburger was great. Our waiter - Robert - was extremely enthusiastic and very helpful. This was a great night and I would love to go back.

This review is long overdue, in short…do yourself a favor and don't leave Carmel without going to Mundaka. We had our rehearsal dinner with a group of 25+ here and the night couldn't have gone any smoother. We made the reservation with very little notice, but they were super responsive and they reserved the front room for our group (supposedly 20). When the time came, we showed up with close to 30, but they didn't fuzz about it and were ultra accommodating. They said it would be cozy which we didn't mind and they brought more chairs. We ordered a mixed selection of food and the manager suggested the amount for the group (I thought it wouldn't be enough) which was was plenty. The food was delicious! We had two Spaniards in the group and plenty of foodies and everyone raved about the food. The food and wine kept on coming and everyone was having a great time, then all of a sudden they show up with a few wine dispensers called 'porron' and made them go around one by one to see who could drink wine without spilling it. It was so much fun! They even brought one filled with water for the kids so they could join in the fun. The place is wonderful, super cozy and fun for an amazing value (I thought the tab would be more so I tipped them well…totally deserved). I can't wait to go back to Carmel and eat at Mundaka. Thank you for such an amazing and unforgettable evening!

We adored Mundaka. The owner himself helped us out with the menu and even recommended against over-ordering (though we did so a bit on our own!) The food here was surprisingly great, from the bomba, to the superb thinly sliced ham with figs, to the exquisite duck leg confit with bacon leek puree. The chef came by and we had such a great chat. Locals attend here - and for really good reason. We will go back every time we are in Carmel.

We went here because it was one of the few places open late with folks under the age of 55 (no offense). The manager and server were super friendly, and they had Classic Wiley Coyote cartoons playing on mute on the projector. They also play foreign films

The wine was great with both local and Spanish options, but mostly Spanish. The dates were pretty good and the tomatoe salad was excellent. The menu had nice variety

We thought it was a super romantic spot and perfect way to end the night
