Description: Mundaka is a Spanish style tapas restaurant in downtown Carmel, CA. It is the result of great friendships, a love of food and wine and music, and a long term romance with Spain and its culture. Open in March 2009, Mundaka continues to evolve daily with the creations of our chef Brandon Miller, and the musical musings of all our talented contributors. Mundaka aspires to be the hub for all that is tasty, fun, artistic, creative, and cultural in Carmel-by-the-sea. We look forward to seeing you soon.

I did a lot of investigating on Trip Advisor for places to dine. I hit the jackpot with this one. The atmosphere was fabulous, the service and server were friendly and offered great advice, and finally the food was to die for. I am very glad that I made this choice and if I lived in the Carmel area this would be one of favorite spots for dining out. I recommend this restaurant highly. Make a reservation!

My wife and I recently dined here for our tenth anniversary and really enjoyed our visit. We shared a couple of tapas plates (we highly recommend the Padron peppers - loved them so much we are now going to grow our own) as well as a big pan of paella which was fantastic. Everything we tried was incredibly tasty. The service was excellent - our waiter, Robert, did a great job of making recommendations for us and also keeping us entertained with his great sense of humor. He took great care of us the entire evening. This place is a bit hidden - off one of the side streets that connects with Ocean Ave downtown, so you aren't likely to stumble into it. Do yourself a favor and give it a try - you will enjoy the experience.

Went on Saturday night during film festival. Had reservations and had looked forward to this all week. Waiter was very good. Food average at best and our dates were burnt. Not slightly singed- the bacon was flat out black, burnt and no taste of bacon left. We eat out a lot and travel frequently and I have never had burnt food served before. The other items were average, but nothing outstanding. Also the tables are close together- just a bit too much since the waiters butt was basically on our table every time he served the tables beside us.
It was not horrible, but very disappointing and by far the most average meal of the trip.

Loved this Tapas restaurant! The atmosphere was very friendly and the food was amazing! We had the tortilla, lamb burger and zucchini with Marconi almonds...all were wonderful. The prices were as expected for a tapas restaurant.

We found this cute tapas restaurant in Carmel on the recommendation of friends. Some of the dishes were great, while others were very good. There was an interesting array of small plates, each in the traditional Spanish mode. The "Party Bottle" wine ($5 if you don't ask; $8 if you ask) was a good addition to the meal. We tasted the Sangria (red and delicious), but decided to stick with the Party Bottle wine in light of the variety of dishes we were ordering. The Rioja poached pears with crepes were a good light dessert, but we would ask for more pears next time.
The service was quite good. The owner spent some quality time with us, and he was quite gregarious and friendly. The atmosphere was great and enjoyable. It was a very nice experience overall.
