Description: Mundaka is a Spanish style tapas restaurant in downtown Carmel, CA. It is the result of great friendships, a love of food and wine and music, and a long term romance with Spain and its culture. Open in March 2009, Mundaka continues to evolve daily with the creations of our chef Brandon Miller, and the musical musings of all our talented contributors. Mundaka aspires to be the hub for all that is tasty, fun, artistic, creative, and cultural in Carmel-by-the-sea. We look forward to seeing you soon.

My husband doesn't like tapas so it took a little convincing but we weren't disappointed. We had the thin lamb chops and replaced the chips with the squash with almonds. Both were awesome. The pork slider was good but not much for two people so next time would get two orders. The heirloom salad was to die for; I can't remember having such flavorful tomatoes. Dessert with lavender ice cream was not very descriptive and we could have passed on that. The venue is fun and colorful with the changing lights. Service was very good.

Delicious tapas and sangria in a relaxed environment (mood lightling changing the wall colour in the part of the restaurant we ate in) served by friendly, efficient staff who make time to speak to customers.

Great buzz, even on a midweek night, with clientele ranging in age from early 20s up to 70s.

It's not a place you'll happen upon by chance, unless you're lost or very lucky so make sure you know how to find Mundaka.

This was a great recommendation from a friend in Bermuda who visited earlier in the summer.

One of my favorite restaurants in Carmel. Was there often summer 2010, went several times a week. Always impressed with the quality, quantify and variety. The owner and employees are so nice and friendly, they welcome new and old guests and stop by to chat and are very attentive. The atmosphere is great for dates or dinner with friends and family.

We arrived early on a Sunday and the place was nearly empty, but by the time we left every table was full. Our service throughout the meal was great and the menu has a full range of options from more traditional tapas to small plates with seasonal selections. The fried potatoes on a bed of roasted tomato sauce were to die for, and the lamb chops with matchstick fries were great too. The grated squash was a super summer choice and had sliced almonds giving them a nice flavor. We weren't wild about the cauliflower in cheese, but it would probably be a good hearty choice in the winter. We shared a bottle of the sangria which was really good. But, I have to say the most memorable dish was the dessert. Can't remember the name, but it was a block of truffle chocolate with sea salt on top floating on a bit of olive oil-sounded a little strange but was FABULOUS! This place is definitely worth a try-lots of options to keep everyone happy.

The braised tuna tapa with the forty minute egg was amazing! Every dish was delicious and we will make a point to go back again this trip to try more tapas.
The place itself is warm and funky with very friendly staff.
