Brophy's is a comfortable tavern in downtown Carmel. It is a few blocks off of Ocean Avenue but worth the walk. It is essentially a sports bar with a good menu. The food was very tasty and I will definitely go back here.

We went to Brophy's for a bite to tide us over until dinner and were not disappointed. We shared some truffle fries, a giant pretzel and the cheese platter. Everything was delicious - we wished we didn't already have dinner plans elsewhere! Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely eat/drink there again!

Cozy atmosphere, great televisions for watching games and terrific sound system that somehow manages to give great volume without being deafening. Nothing worse than a bar where you can not have a conversation, that won't happen here. Food is genuine cooking not typical bar food. Calamari is fresh. Pork wings well cooked - get sauce on side of you don't like heat- and portion is large. Excellent house made soup. Service on point and friendly. Definite stop for casual lunch or dinner.

We had just driven up from So Cal and were looking for a "relaxing, casual place with a bar". Thanks to the staff at Coachman's for recommending this! It is definitely a "local pub" as evidenced by the marked beer mugs hanging over the bar. The bartender - Rob - was OUTSTANDING! He welcomed us with a friendly hand shake, made sure I would like my wine choice before he poured, and kept the entire place served while chatting with everyone, We learned that he free dives for jade and he shared some of his beautiful pieces with us. Fascinating. He knew many of the customers by name, and everyone was very friendly. The food was really good, also. I had a grilled cheese with tomato soup that was to die for! My husband had the fish and chips, both choices recommended by Rob and were fabulous, fresh and delicious. Would go back here in a heartbeat!

My husband and I went in for a few drinks after dinner before heading back to our place. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and attentive. We ordered a few beers with a couple of shots which were extremely generous in portion. The atmosphere feels like a local bar in a town where people would go for a relaxed casual time. We didn't eat here but heard they have really great food. Some people who were leaving the bar, stopped and spoke with us for a moment, then said give hem a round on us. How unexpected and nice " drinks here are very reasonably priced. I would recommend others to come here for the friendliness and casual local feel. Had a great time and would return on another trip to or through Carmel.
