“Shabby chic with great breakfasts”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2014

We've stayed at this bungalow-style B&B for a number of years and always come back. The rooms are always clean, beds comfortable and bathrooms basic. Decor is tasteful antique. Each small bungalow is surrounded by pretty gardens. Good coffee and homemade goodies are provided for breakfast (complimentary),
The Green Lantern is a block off Carmel's main drag (Ocean Avenue) and about three short blocks to the iconic beach.
Inexpensive (we paid $110.00 for a double) with a staff that's helpful and always smiling. Plenty of free parking.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floors of the bungalows/buildings are best for tall people.

We stayed 3 nights there and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect - close to the beach and to Ocean Ave. - a great shopping and eating area. If you like places with charm and personality this place is it. Our cabin was very clean and comfortable, and we made good use of the fridge. The breakfast/gathering room was vintage comfortable, and very welcoming. Breakfast and afternoon snack time were excellent and both Jen and Greta were so friendly and helpful. We loved the uniqueness of the Green Lantern Inn, and would go back again in a heartbeat.

We have stayed in Carmel before but this was our first time at Green Lantern. Very well located within easy walking distance of everywhere one might want to go in Carmel. Charming property with various cabins/lodges dotted among the trees. We stayed in oak, which was again charming, and comfortable in a cottage style. Good fresh breakfast and coffee on tap. Excellent value for Carmel. If you want a modern hotel with all facilities then this may not be for you. If, however, you want somewhere full of character and charm in close proximity to Ocean Avenue and in keeping with Carmel itself, then the Green lantern ticks all the boxes

This inn is really quaint, affordable & in a great location near the beach & great shops & restaurants. Greta, the innkeeper, does a wonderful job providing a great breakfast buffet & happy hour at no extra charge. Greta & Brittany were so friendly & informative during our stay. The dining area & kitchen are very clean & comfortable. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which was really comfortable and spacious. Nice electric fireplace in the room too. Parking is good too.

Stayed one night at the Green Lantern Inn in the Knotty Pine cottage. Not sure how the other cottages are but the Knotty Pine is smallish...not much room for luggage. The bathroom looks added on so maybe these were originally small plain cabins. The décor is cute and the grounds are nice. Breakfast was very good if somewhat limited. Service was good and the location is very good; one block to Ocean Ave and a short walk to the beach. Not sure you could find anything better in downtown Carmel for the price. Wish we could have stayed longer since Carmel is such a lovely little town. Would stay here again.

It’s difficult to find anything positive to say about the Green Lantern Inn, B&B – OK then, its in Carmel. The room is drab and bed linen shabby as are the towels in the tired bathroom. The shower is dangerous – scalding hot to cold depending who else might be tapping into the system at the same time, and water flow reduced to a dribble.
“Room with a view of the lush garden” – hmm, slight exaggeration on both counts.
There was zero hospitality or ‘friendly welcome’ and breakfast was absolutely ordinary and just nothing special. Would not recommend this B&B to any category of traveler at any price.

Room Tip: Stay in Monterey / Pacific Grove

The staff and owners are very friendly and interested in their customers. They love to help you when needed.
We had good fun in the bar.

Beds are good, there is a beautiful garden, the food is good and that all for a good price.

Loved to stay there.
