Nicely renovated amenities and friendly staff. My kids really enjoyed having the pool to themselves. Nearby restaurants with a dozen different food options. Thanks for making our first night in Cali a comfortable one!

Great Family Reunion Location

We had a hard time finding a location for our family reunion. Having 32 people really decreased our options on the central coast. We were so happy to find Carmel River Inn. Each family had their own cottage, which was nice for privacy. But we were all located in the same area so we could socialize with each other. The cottages were nice and cozy, and perfect for our needs. The months leading up to the reunion were filled with lots of planning logistics and every time I called Carmel River Inn they were so helpful. I definitely would recommend them to anyone!

Birthday Vacation

We take our Frenchie to Carmel every year for her birthday. We love to stay at the Carmel River Inn. The cottages are a little rustic but fun. The location is perfect. Quiet yet close to all our favorite spots. The staff is so helpful and our dogs love it there.

Lovely neighborhood

Did a one night stay after driving up the coast through big sur. It is at the southern tip of Carmel and really easy to get to coming from that direction. There is a little bubbling pond and we heard night birds or some type of creatures doing night calls in the back of the property. Pretty cool. We stayed in the motel building but I saw a lot of stand alone cabins that you can rent. The room itself was decent, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very outdated. Other than that it all worked out for us and staff at the front desk were kind and courteous.

Cozy Clean Cabin close to Carmel by the Sea.

Older motel but very clean. The staff is extremely helpful and will go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. The one cup coffee maker does not make good coffee but there is plenty of good coffee available in the lobby.
Don't plan on doing a lot of cooking if you stay in the cabins. Kitchen is not well equipped.

Primitive Accommodations

We booked at the Carmel River Inn because of their dog-friendly policy. We requested an upstairs room, and when we checked in, we noticed that the air conditioning did not work and that there was no screen on the sliding door to keep mosquitoes out. We called the front desk and were told that none of the rooms had air conditioning and that only a couple had screens to allow ventilation. Luckily, one of the rooms with door screens was available so we moved to that room. The room had an old, stained carpet and a worn out appearance. It was clean, and the beds were comfortable. All in all, it was primitive at best, and I would not recommend this hotel.

Room tip: If you have to stay there, book a room with a screen on the sliding door so that you get ventilation without insects.
