A nice older establishment. If you want more privacy, you can stay in a cottage. Cozy for two, it has all you need, and has not been modernized. It could have been the drive to the area and being stuck in traffic, but the bed was just a bit too firm for me. Worth the wait, get a cup of coffee from the lobby.
Date of stay: July 2019
Room Tip: The mattress a bit too firm for me, but loved having a kitchenette.

We stayed in one of the cottages. Quiet and clean. The bedroom area is fairly sized but the bathroom was rather cramped. There is some construction going. We did not hear anything during the weekend but heavy machinery was in use on Monday morning.

We chose this hotel as we were attending the US Open, and it was the only place that wasn't going to break the bank, and that we didn't have to book 7 nights (only 5 nights). Whilst this place is certainly NOT 5 Star (nor do they claim it to be), it was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed. It's in a great location, only a short walk to a large shopping centre with Safeway and good restaurants. Try the Chinese restaurant … we went twice it was SO good!!

We had no choice but to stay in the "hotel" section, as it's the only rooms with Twin beds. However my parents stayed in a cottage, and it was very cute. They had a problem with their fireplace turning itself on, but it was promptly rectified after a call to reception.

The hotel rooms are obviously much older than the cottages, but had everything we needed. Clean (although small) bathroom, bar fridge, reliable WIFI, and comfortable beds. The onsite management are very friendly and helpful and even lent us a BBQ one night so we could cook our own dinner.

We had a great stay at Carmel River Inn and would stay again if we find ourselves back at Pebble Beach for an Open.

Thank you for your feedback! We have made a number of refreshes to the Inn room including new beds, carpet, paint and more. We are adding cabins to the property which will be brand new and we continue to refresh our historic cottages. hope to see you soon.

The moment we stepped into the cabin, we realized this would be a time to unwind, relax and extend our stay here. The coziness of the cabins were peaceful. The welcoming staff treated us with exceptional service and the aura makes you want to return again and again. The cleanliness of the rooms and manicured gardens were a treat. Thank you Michael and Tom at the front desk for making this possible.

Front desk very friendly. Cottage 10 had some positive qualities. Very quiet and the room decor was nice. Enjoyed the silverware and plates along with the mini fridge. Patio was in need of sweeping and cleaning out the cob webs from the fence. Cigarette butts in front of the room along with the huge garbage cannister off to the right. It was cool in Carmel but the room still was stuffy in the afternoon. There were screens at the back window and the bathroom but there was no way to open the front windows and allow the cross ventilation to help cool the room. If it was warmer it most likely would have been uncomfortble. The grounds are a bit dusty in the cottage area. The shower also needed a place to keep shampoo and soap. It is a good value but I don't think we would stay again.
