“Absolutely loved this place!!!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2007

I am obsessed with this website and such a hotel snob so I really did my research about this property! We didn't want to stay in a B&B Downtown (which are nice but I wanted ocean view). We couldn't have been more pleased with this place. Very small, 38 rooms, all of which are great. They have all been redone and are adorable/comfortable and almost all have awesome views of the ocean/cliffs. Beds were so comfy and they have a large roomy bathroom. Champagne and chocolate upon arrival and great continental breakfast included. The hotel is right above Hyatt Highlands Inn which does have 2 restaurants so you could walk there if needed. Wine and Cheese reception was a nice touch!
The staff was great and helpful if you need area info.
We LOVED carmel! It was our first time and it was so quaint and great. If you want a great dinner/lunch with a view, go to Rocky Point Restaurant which is south 10 miles on Hwy 1. AWESOME view from almost every table. You MUST drive south on Hwy 1 to see Big Sur. It was the most beautiful vista drive I have ever seen. LOVED IT!
I would stay here again and can't wait to go back!!!

We found this lovely little place after surfing the net one cold Sunday afternoon in England in February and what a find!

This was the final stop of our great California adventure and as we were staying 5 nights, wanted somewhere a little special. Special this is.

We were alocated room 27, not one of the most expensive but abosutely gorgeous nonetheless. As its on the end it had a balcony on an angle with plenty of space and super views. The bed was canopied and, as we were told on Tripadvisor, the bedding was fantastic. We didn't think that we would need to light the fire in August but it did get a litte chilly at night (that's our excuse anyway) and it really gave the room that extra wow factor. Choose this room if you can. We left the windows open at night and could hear sealions barking out in the bay - just perfect.

We took FULL advantage of the evening cheese and wine and would encourage everyone else too. Not only is the cheese very good (not something you find on a trip to the US we have found) but the wine very good and plentiful! Its also a great time to meet other guests - we met a lovely couple from Jackson NJ - get in touch if you are reading this, you know who you are!

Breakfast was held on the deck in the morning but you can have it delivered to your room (at no extra cost) if you wish.

We ate a couple of times at the California Kitchen in the Highlands next door which we would highly recommend. The outside tables overlook the ocean and have binoculars on each table which came in very handy when we spotted a whale out at sea one evening! Very exciting!!

One evening we used the Doorstep Dining service and had dinner delivered from a local restaurant to our room. This is a great service, there must have been 20 restaurants to choose from. We sat in front of the fire, watching a DVD from the front desk, a super bottle of Napa wine eating a great meal from Billy Bahama's - heaven!

Trips out - do the 17 mile drive, lovely views, gorgeous properties to ogle, lots of wildlife, visit the Monterey aquarium, amble around Carmel (lovely shops and pretty little houses and a great beach), drive to Gilroy (wonderful outlet shopping) and last, you must drive down Highway 1. Views are spectacular!! We also stopped at Julia Pffeiffer State Park - a pleasant easy walk to the coast and a pretty little waterful falling into the ocean and stop at Nepenthe and have lunch on the top deck, at the counter overlooking the view.

You can tell we were very taken with the whole area which was made even better by the Tickle Pink Inn. GO!!

My wife and I, both in our 30's, drove from LA to San Fran, stopping off at a few locations on the way but was advised to stay here by a friend from San Fran. What a delight. The accommodation, setting and attention to detail was flawless. It was the most relaxing part of our trip and would love to have stayed for longer. If we return to this part of the world we will definitely stay in the Tickle Pink.

Just completed our stay at The Tickle Pink and were very impressed with both the accomodations and the staff. We found the Inn to have a warm, intimate feel... large enough to offer a wonderful in-room breakfast in the morning and other pleasant guest amenities, but small enough to offer a great respite from the large corporate hotel feel.

Our room (No. 5) was conveniently located just a few short steps from the parking lot and featured plush, inviting bedding, a nicely-appointed bath area and a wonderful patio with a spectacular view of the Carmel coast. The Inn itself is located a few miles south of Carmel on the hills overlooking the ocean, so be prepared for some stunning views and awesome sunsets (if the ocean overcast allows).

The entire staff was professional and attentive. Check in was quick, polite and efficient and our breakfasts and other room service requests were attended to in less than 10 minutes.

We found the facility to be very quiet and relaxing... no sounds from adjacent rooms or outside could be heard once we closed the door. It was so quiet and private that at times we thought we were the only guests on the property! (But the parking lot was completely full).

The Inn is conveniently located about 10 minutes from the downtown area of Carmel-by-the-Sea where a variety of great restaurants and eclectic shopping/galleries can be found. And 30 minutes to the south is Big Sur with great hiking opportunities in the State Parks there.

We would highly recommend The Tickle Pink Inn for any travelers seeking a unique, romantic get-away. After our great expereince there this weekend, we know that we'll be coming back.

  • Liked — The warm, initimate feel of the property. Almost like a cozy B&B...
  • Disliked — No dislikes... based on our expereince its easy to see why this is the #1 rated property in the Carmel area!

We were travelling down the coast from San Francisco and were really looking forward to staying in the Tickle Pink Inn - especially after reading the reviews in Trip Advisor. We had booked it from January 2007. We arrived in the afternoon to be told that they had made a mistake with our booking and only realised that morning and because they were fully booked we could not stay there! I had paper work confirming the correct dates from the Tickle Pink but that didnt seem to matter. Several rooms were not occupied yet and guests had not checked in yet but because the error was with our booking we were not allowed a room even though bookings had been made long after ours and our 1 nights deposit had been paid Jan 2007. We were gutted. After long discussions and recommendations from us to the manager as to how this should have been handled we were given a room at the Hyatt for our stay - eventually paid by the Tickle Pink Inn. Advise - make sure you contact them before you travel to reconfirm you have a room!!

Kurtoff, General Manager at Tickle Pink Inn, responded to this review, August 27, 2007
Regretfully, the staff and I admit that there was an overbooking error for which there ended up no logical explanation. We truly wish this couple could have stayed at the Tickle Pink Inn and enjoyed it as much as all of our guests. Upon discovering the problem the morning before arrival, we immediately did everything we could. Ultimately we succeeded and found a comparable room in the Carmel Highlands at almost 50% off the room rack rate. Rest assured, our reservation system has worked for years, and we certainly hope that this rare occurrence never happens again. We deeply apologize.

Tickle Pink deserves to be the top rated hotel in Carmel- but realize that it is actually 10 or 15 minutes south of the city. This is a beautiful place but other than the Hyatt, there is little around. The views from the balcony, the rooms, and the people are fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again- it is excellent. My only caveat would be that the hot tub is kind of small- when we were there, it was pretty full with people, but this probably isn't much of an issue most of the time. This is a great place.

WOW!!! We loved this hotel! The views, the room and the staff could not be better! I did not want to leave the bed in the morning. It was the best bed I ever slept in, better than mine at home. Carmel is a great place to visit. So much to see and so much to do. I can not wait until I go back. In fact, I would move there tomorrow!!!
