We stayed in the farmhouse. Narrow stairs led to our 2nd floor room, no problem for us and our small bags, but it might pose a problem for older guests with larger bags. The room was small but comfortable. I agree with reviewers stating it was like staying at grandma's house.
The deck overlooking the meadow opened at 4 pm, and we had been looking forward to relaxing there with a drink, only to find that by 5 pm, the 4 or 5 tables available for drinks only were full, and the remaining 10 or 12 empty tables were for diners only. Very disappointing, but we had our drink in the bar. The restaurant doesn't take reservations, but hotel guest can indicate when they would like to eat, and be placed on the wait list early. This worked fine.
While having drinks, we observed the food being served to early-bird patrons. Prime rib so huge it hung off the plate, carrots the size of small baseball bats, and salmon fillets that could feed a small army. My wife and I are not big eaters, and we enjoy visiting places known for their smaller but exceptional plates. This is not such a place. If you love 14+ oz. pieces of prime rib, cooked medium to medium well, you will be very happy.
Overall, if we are ever in the area again, we might return to the hotel, but definitely not the restaurant.
