We absolutely loved Carmel, and The Mission Ranch. What a beautiful place, and actually getting to meet Mr. Eastwood made the experience complete. Wonderful restaurant, as well. Service, food quality, and ambience was all top notch. Amazing prime rib! We will be back!

We had the 'honeymoon cottage' and it was gorgeous! Loved our stay at Mission Ranch such a beautiful place, we will be back again! Close to the town which is one if the most beautiful places we have been! This place is such a treasure! A must stay, the price is worth the experience!

Fall in Carmel is the best. Great weather. Fewer people. And Mission Ranch is in a great location. Out of the downtown crowds. With both ocean views to Point Lobos and views up the Carmel Valley. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff.

I was treated to a stay at The Mission Ranch for my birthday, and it was a wonderful time. Kudos to Clint Eastwood for saving this gorgeous property from becoming only a memory - may it create memories for years to come. The property is a sprawling old ranch that works very well as a hotel. The rooms range from small and inexpensive (for the area) to large enough for a family. We stayed in one of the Meadow Triplexes and thoroughly enjoyed the room. It doesn't have ultra modern amenities, but they would not fit with the atmosphere of the place. The room was large and comfortable, well lighted, cozy with the gas fireplace, and the view from the balcony was great. We watched the sheep in the daytime and saw lots of deer and turkeys at night. You can also see the waves crashing over at Point Lobos, and you get to watch both a sunrise and a sunset. There is a school next door, but the kids really didn't make all that much noise. As for a previous comment about the TV being too small, well, we never even turned it on. There is simply too much else to do in Carmel than to be stuck to a TV. The Ranch is in a great location for scenic walks. You can head around the corner to the Mission San Carlos Borroméo del río Carmelo, or go the other direction and walk along the ocean into town. You do have a bit of an uphill at the end, though. The restaurant is great, although only open for dinner and a fabulous Sunday Brunch. We sampled both, and the food and service were top notch. The only disappointment we had was not running into Mr. Eastwood at the piano bar. We will definitely be returning to the Mission Ranch in the future.

Room Tip: Meadowview Triplex upstairs. there is no elevator but the view is nicer.

We stayed at The Ranch one evening and were we sold. We would love to come back and stay longer. The room was super, the view was fantastic. We had dinner in the restaurant and thought the food was probably the best we had on our entire trip. The desk staff were excellent and very accommodating. The wait staff in the restaurant couldn't have been more helpful. We stayed and enjoyed the piano bar after dinner and had a neat time. Complimentary breakfast was more than sufficient and tasty. But the road calls and off we were wishing we could have stayed longer

We stayed at Mission Ranch in October and think it’s a little over priced for what’s on offer. The setting is stunning and the staff very helpful.

We had a meadowview triplex which cost $270 per night plus the taxes. The room itself is a bit dated, although I appreciate it is trying to maintain a certain style in keeping with an old ranch, and the bathroom is very small with a whirlpool tub that didn’t whirl. There was also a fridge on the bathroom floor (strange spot) which did more whirling than the tub. The bed offered single hard pillows and more layers on the bed (most of which I am sure are not washed on a regular basis) than a geological cross-section.

The view from the veranda is lovely as it overlooks a meadow and beyond that the sea although you pay a significant premium for this view so it is a shame it is slightly spoiled by the fact that before you can appreciate the meadow/sea view, you have to overlook a school soccer pitch which seemed to have people kicking a football around every time I went out to read my book and have a drink. Not as tranquil as was expecting. The tranquillity was further impacted by the fact that Mission Ranch seems to make most of its money on the restaurant and events and these seem to take priority over guests staying at Mission Ranch. Both nights we were staying, there was a wedding taking place with loud music banging out until midnight which again was at odds with the tranquil experience we were expecting. Carmel is a great town and you will spend most of your time in the excellent restaurants and wine tasting venues so the walk to and from Mission Ranch is indeed a bit of a mission (especially seeing as the road is pitch black at night) and getting a cab is not that easy. Overall, Mission Ranch is a nice venue which has been refurbished in the style of a Clint Eastwood western (he is owner, frequenter of piano bar and former Mayor of Carmel) but it is charging luxury prices without offering luxury accommodation. Would certainly recommend a visit to the packed restaurant which seems very popular but not sure I would recommend staying here for this price.
