“A Unique Home and History”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Robinson Jeffers was a brooding, brilliant poet, and his aura is still present at his Tor House property. The house and tower are redolent of a man whose very life depended on his tie to the land and sea. A visit, led by docents with excellent knowledge of Jeffers and his wife Una make the visit a memorable experience. Docent-led tours are given on Saturdays.

“Off The Beaten Path - Don't Miss This!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We impulsively decided to sign up for the tour (reservations are a must) and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our weekend getaway. The docent giving the tour was well-informed and genuine, and we learned so much about this poet (Robinson Jeffers) and his family while seeing the home they built and lived in before the Carmel area became the current tourist destination. The coastal view complimented the atmospheric stone tower, and we found ourselves telling everyone we saw for the next few weeks about this charming walk into the past.

Not open every day of the week for tour, so check website before you go, but you can look at it from the street on both sides including Scenic Road.

“a glimpse into the mind of a poetic genius”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

I wasn't very familiar with the work of Robinson Jeffers before coming to Tor House, but my partner is a big fan of his poetry. It was fascinating touring the poet's home and studio and hearing his work read in situ. I was particularly blown away by the stone tower. Highly recommend.
