While on another adventuring day, my boyfriend and I decided to check out Point Lobos since it was a short drive from Monterey. Yeah, it may have had a fee but it didn't matter - we saw SO much and really enjoyed our entire day here. You can drive to and from different areas however we found ourselves walking nearly the entire time. Everyone is there to catch the sights and sounds which means a friendly place to visit. Some of the trails are narrow and steep, so just take your time and be careful. Otherwise, bring water and you will be good to go!

The beauty of Point Lobos will blow your mind. Take the time to hike from Whalers Cove to the beach (nice trial with lot of stairs) and you will think you have died and gone to heaven. The beauty is incredible.

Point Lobos is one of the best parks in California. You'll need to get there early as the parking lot usually gets full by 10am during the weekends.
Great trails to walk around and amazing views of the ocean.
Lots of wildlife to see: seals, otters, birds and if you're lucky whales.

We stopped by here in July on our way back down the coast from the Redwoods. Note that you can't park an RV in the park, but plenty of parking on the street and then walk in. Also, no dogs allowed in park. Beautiful park with great trails and several amazing photo ops. We made the complete loop around the park and will be back in December when whales should be visible.
