La Costa is a really lovely retreat for a couple, family or a mom that needs to get away. Its grounds are lovely and well cared for, the pools and water slides are great for the kids, but I would have to say the food is dreadful. I know food and THAT is not great food at the Bistro. The Bluefire Grill is a little better. Every time I stay here the food is the one thing that makes me unhappy because it is so basic yet not made well! Everything else is really wonderful. Comfortable rooms, great service and a really lovely staff. The Chopra Center is a magnificent retreat for anyone looking for a little solace and peace as well. I would def. recommend La Costa.

My check-in and check-out was messed up but a beautiful place with friendly staff. Self parking is inconvenient. Lighting is room is Obama mandated non working CFL type bulbs than fully light after you've run into the tub. For a convention location, it is costly to get this property. A downtown San Diego location is a better alternative.

Stayed a full week in late September 2013. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a Valet Attendant. After check-in the valet pointed me to my room which was a nice haul on the other side of the property. I was offered to valet or "self park", either way I had to schlep my own luggage. My room was clean but had issues. The bathroom sink would not drain and the TV would not turn off- I unplugged it. The hotel responded in quick time and repaired the next day. The hotel Manager sent me a fruit and cheese tray for the trouble. That was a nice gesture. Finding a meal I could afford other than the damp sandwiches in the Starbucks was impossible. The Blue Flame grill had some Iron Chef selections that were not even reasonable. Overall the property just does not seem to have that edge I remember from my stay in 2008. The Golf Course was not much better. Sorry Gents. Several holes were "under repair" and it looked like a storm had blown through the night before. Trash and debris was all over the course.
Overall I was not disappointed, I had higher expectations for such a property.

Room Tip: 700 series rooms are close enough to the shops and facilities.

La Costa Resort and Spa is a great destination for both the business traveller and the vacationer - there really is something there for everyone, golf, spa, tennis, wellness, pools - the list goes on! On this instance we were travelling with our children. Upon arrival we were had lunch out on the terrace at Bistro 65 - we had views looking out over the greens and felt like we were away on vacation even though we were locals. We spent the afternoon hopping between the many pools that the resort offers. The family pool area is huge and offers a lot of variety for those travelling with children , inlcuding multiple water slides (Big Hit!) sand and splash areas, jaccuzzis and a large swim area. The children enjoyed their time their and we appreciated the controlled entrance and exit as parents. The 21 and over pool had a DJ playing and had a "Vegas" style feel to it. Even though it was very busy on the day we were there it was a fun atmosphere. The Spa is very famous and it a great asset to this property - it is located in the heart of property along with multiple shopping options through this central "plaza" area. We dined at Blue Fire Grill for dinner and enjoyed the great service as well as a perfectly cooked meal. I can reccommend the IPA Pork Belly Macaroni and Cheese, you will want more! Our room was well equipped, spacious and clean. All amenities that one would require in a room were there, robes, luggage racks (2 helpful when travelling with more than one person) selection of magazines, hair dryer etc. One great bonus to us was we could leave our window open for fresh air in the evening as we were located on the third floor. Overall, I left the hotel with the feeling that we were cared for and the staff are there to ensure that we and all of their guests have a successful stay with them regardless of the reason for being there.

Room Tip: There are multiple buildings - our room was central and suited our needs.

Be prepared to not want to leave once you get here. We enjoyed the spa which was amazing..from perfectly perched towels and spf 30 sunscreen available at the spa pool, rushing water showers, hot tub and attention to every detail. Spa treatments come with a day at the spa.. WORTH IT!! or just pay the daily fee to enjoy feeling pampered even if you are not there for a specific treatment.

We had dinner at Blue Fire.. romantic fireside with a personal visit from the chef with live background music on the adjoining patio. Good food and interesting menu combinations.

We ate breakfast daily at Bistro 65 where staff was friendly, helpful and fully understands service.

A big kid friendly resort but the adults only area was perfect for sitting by gas fire pits or adults only pool time.

Of the 4 hotels we stayed at in San Diego this was the top of the list

Room Tip: Parking is a hike.. valet is totally worth it and make sure to check in with foursquare and like the...
