Would highly recommend for families wanting a relaxing getaway. The staff and service were great. The kids loved the family pool area, and so did we! Enough variety (toddler and big kid slides, sandy area, splash area) to keep us all busy and active for a good part of the day. The dining options were good for a 3 day stay. Spa was beautiful as well.

We stayed at La Costa with our two daughters, ages 4 and 7, and had a great time! They loved the pools, water slides and space to roam outside our room (800 building ground floor.) Our room was very nice and comfortable.

Words of advice, the 48" height requirement to go on the big water slides was strictly enforced. If you have a little one that is close, but not there, who will be very disappointed, a warning ahead of time might be good!

If you are local and driving distance, throw in your kid's bike or scooters. My girls loved to ride their Razors around the walkways outside our room.

We also loved doing the s'mores at night on the plaza & there was a free daily craft for kids each morning at 10am which my girls enjoyed.

Awesome fitness center & classes as well.

I would highly recommend this resort for families! We will be back!

Room tip - we really enjoyed the ground floor "Signature" rooms for proximity to the pools and running around space for kids.

Room Tip: Signature rooms in 800 or 900 buildings ground floor if you have kids and want to be close to the po...

Good food and bars. But the sound quality of the rooms is terrible. Had to be moved, and while the second room was ten times better, I couldn't sleep past 5 bc of the sound of toilets and water. All of the servers were excellent. Also, 30 minutes from San Diego and they do not offer ANY types of shuttles to the beach. Told me they could call me a cab. Yay. They really want you to stay in the resort, but after a few days I was stir crazy with all the families and kids.

Pretty cool looking resort with lots of amenities and things to do. Many many pools and hot tubs all around the resort. Golf course, top class SPA and YOGA. Ideal for Family and/or business meetings. Close to San Diego downtown, Lajolla, Del Mar and beach areas. Perfect weather all year round.

We just had a really nice, relaxing weekend at La Costa. Our kids are 4 and 7 and just loved the place. The beach pool and the giant water slide kept them happy and occupied all day! My son must have gone down the big water slide 100x! The positives: Our room was spotless and the staff was friendly and attentive. Check in was smooth and our bill was accurate at check out. The family pool area was safe and engaging. The breakfast buffet was great for our kids too. The owls you get to pet and learn about, and the s'mores--big hits with our team. Also, my husband had a wonderful massage, and the gym is fun and well equipped. Negatives: Dinners at Bistro 65--blah--had to send one dish back even. The kids buffet worked for our kids though. The Kidtopia club is dark and kind of depressing--we didn't end up using it because our kids were so underwhelmed. Maybe their activities outside are fun? The little arcade area--lame and out of order. And lastly, the darn service golf carts that zoom around on the sidewalks are really annoying. I don't think we were able to take one stroll without being shewed off the path by these things--not just once--but every few yards! Really undercuts the relaxing vibe. But on the whole we had a great time! We were there to play in the pools, tackle Legoland, and lounge and spa a bit--and that we did! The service in all areas was quite excellent and everything was clean, well maintained, and a struck a nice balance between kid-friendly and luxurious!

This resort has beautiful grounds and is great for golfers, but overall it is nothing amazing. On one hand: the staff is friendly, the pool is fun, and the food is pretty good. On another: the rooms are average, the maid service is lacking, and the location could be better. This resort is nice, just not as nice as I was expecting. I would recommend staying here when they are offering a promotion or online deal.
