“Nice hotel close to everything”
Reviewed June 29, 2010

This hotel was located just a couple mile from Interstate 5 and provided the very good Hilton stay I have grown to expect. The hotel is conveniently located near shopping and some very excellent beaches. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, everything was functioning properly. The room came with a refrigerator, microwave, and flat screen television. The bathroom was roomy enough and the room was maintained nicely during the stay. There was a pool and jacuzzi outside that was nice, but one of the highlights was the hot breakfast. I went to work well fed every morning. The exercise room could have been better equipped and I would have liked to have had an actual suite for the amount I paid, but the room is spacious and compared to other hotels in the area it is worth the money. This hotel is close to Legoland so it is a magnet for small children..who understandably are excited to be there and sometimes make quite a bit of noise in the hallways. Perhaps not the best circumstances for some business travelers, but it didn't really bother me too much while working. Overall, an excellent stay at a very good to excellent hotel.

The room was new and clean. The staff were extremely helpful in delivering new towels right away, fixing the dryers immediately, and reimbursing us for the cost of having to run the dryers twice because the lint filters were clogged the first time. The only negative was the bathroom didn't have a fan, so the room turned a little steamy after using the shower. The room rate was on the high side for this class of hotels, but the newness, cleanliness, and service made it worthwhile.

We stayed at this hotel to go to Legoland which is only about 6 min away. It was lovely. Very helpful staff, nice breakfast ( not hot beffet only cold) and really swish rooms. We have 4 kids so we had to rooms joining. The rooms were huge and the beds were to die for. They were the kind you sink into I had the best night sleep the whole trip in those yummy beds!!! Furnishings were plush and the whole place had a professional and pleasant feel. I would stay there again as it is very close to the shopping outlet shopping centre and legoland.
10 out of 10.

I am rating this hotel as "average" since it was the first hotel we had stayed in all across the U.S. where we actually heard noise, and a lot of it. The hotel location is perfect for visiting family in Oceanside, as the hotel was in a very nice and safe location, and we felt safe going in and out of the hotel even at night. The hotel is located near the airport, but it wasn't airport noise that we heard...the walls and ceilings are thin, so we heard talking in the rooms next to us, babies crying, and kids running up and down the hallways and jumping around in the room above us at all hours of the day and night.

There was some sort of wedding or party for one group, so they were up early one day and in late in the early a.m. the next - some people just don't know how to act or control their kids, so it was noisy, and I wasn't too happy about it, but I suffered through it until they settled down or passed out.

Breakfast was packed each day, and they ran out of hot food. I waited around for eggs to reappear, and a man kept coming out of the kitchen saying "five minutes"...I waited for about 15 minutes and picked bagels and yogurt instead. There was never any seating, so we took the food back to our rooms.

In the mornings, the housekeeping carts are everywhere, and you have to squeeze by them to get down the hall. We had to wait for elevators a few times so that the housekeepers could get their carts up and down. The housekeepers are noisy, too, bumping vacuum cleaners into walls and yelling at each other in Spanish down the hall. So much for anyone who is trying to sleep in.

You can also hear traffic from outside of the windows, and this hotel has a big parking problem. If you have a car bigger than a regular two to four door sedan, then you have to park down the street, unless you can get into a space that was parked into "normally" by other guests. Anytime we found a free parking space nearby, the guests on either side were parked too close to the lines, so we had to park elsewhere. We have a mini-van, so it should not have been that difficult to get a space, but the spaces are made much thinner than normal.

The rooms are also small. We had a rollaway added to our room so that we could spread out, since we were going to be there for 3 nights, but even without a rollaway, the room is tight. I think that is just the theme in California - land is scarce, so fit as many rooms into a building as possible, as many parking spaces into a lot as possible...

The highlight was the comfortable beds and the fine decor. The hotel was not run down in any way, and one of the nicer Hamptons that I have stayed in, and considering the location, I am not surprised about the size of the room or lots, but the noise was a bit unacceptable, as was the packed breakfast and running out of food, but we didn't complain. The front desk host was always very courteous to us, and we slept comfortably each night. The kids slept through all noise, so that made it worth it. I put ear plugs in after the first night and was fine.

If in Carlsbad, I would stay here again but we will bring our own breakfast (there is a microwave and fridge in the room) and ear plugs. Everything else was fine.

The only disappointment was the quality of the bureau. The depth, size and space that was offered in the drawers was very inadequate especially for a family. It was ridiculous how hard it was to jam our clothes into those shallow drawers!

Other than that, we loved our stay and were very impressed with the quality of the hotel. Excellent place to stay but don't pack a lot of clothes because they won't fit in the drawers!

We have stayed at this location before and really enjoyed it. It was a couple years ago, so I hoped it would still be the same great experience. This property did not disappoint!
For the price that you pay for this hotel, you could not ask for more. The property is clean, rooms are nicely appointed and the breakfast in the morning is a great value. We arrived in the evening to find the smell of freshly baked cookies wafting from the lobby to greet us.
We would definitely stay here EVERY time we visit Legoland, San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. GREAT LOCATION!

We stayed here for four nights in order to be close to Legoland. This hotel completely exceeded our expectations. Very clean, relatively new, modern hotel, with a great breakfast buffet. With having two kids under 4, they loved the breakfast options. It didn't take too long for us to get to Sea World, though our trip was primarily based on two days at Legoland. We found the location perfect to go to Legoland in the AM, come back to the hotel for our 1 year old's nap, and then back to the park in the afternoon. When the manager found out that our son was celebrating his 4th birthday one morning, she made the effort to not only wish him a happy birthday, but she arranged to have a gift and card for him waiting for him in our room upon our return. Talk about customer service!!! Every Hampton Inn employee at this hotel 'gets it'- they were all very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again for sure.
