“Pricy but worth it”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

At an excellent sea side location with view of the sunset, this is a very nice restaurant in Carlsbad, CA. Excellent menu , on the high range of price, particularly the daily specials which range $40 plus for the daily specials and buy small portions.
Romantic... of sorts, with very good service

“One of the best Italian Restaurants”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Not only in the area but in the land....the hot spinach salad was outstanding, the scallop starter amazing and the veal chop immense and tasty.

“A great surprise!”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

We began our venture looking for an oceanside bar for Happy Hour (or at least a place with a view). After a misstep, we decided to give this place a try. PERFECT! They have a terrific bar with views from 2 fully glassed exposures (one to the south and one to the west). We sat at the bar for a couple of beverages and received a couple of complimentary brucshettas from the
bartender. They have very good happy hour pricing.
We decided to dine there and were seated on the street/oceanside patio. Cozy and somewhat intimate. There were gas heaters to take off the chill once the sun set.
Our waiter was very good explaining the specials for the day with his genuine Italian accent, but we opted for a couple of regular menu items. A split of their Insalate Caesar arrived - crispy and delicious. Wild boar ragout over housemade pasta for me and spaghetti with prime beef meatballs for the man. Excellent choices but quite large portions (we took leftovers back to our hotel for lunch on Christmas Day). Their dinner rolls are delicious with a hint of rosemary and served with a slightly sweet compound butter.
I inquired of our waiter how a gentleman from Italy comes to be a waiter at an Italian restaurant in the US. He told his story and I was thrilled to discover that he is from a small town that I visited this past Fall while attending a cooking school in Tuscany.
Valet parking is offered for a very reasonable price - use it. These guys are creative in parking all of the vehicles in a small area.
We felt the prices were a little on the high side, but then, we were in California where everything is more expensive than Arizona.
We noticed there is a Vigilucci's Trattoria being built on the coast highway in Leucadia (south of Carlsbad).

“Wow”
Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

We met our daughter and a co-worker at this place for happy hour after we got in from Bremerton on the plane. It's valet parking and the guys were a kick. Once we were inside the atmosphere continued, even to the point where the manager offered to take our pix at sunset, which was absolutely awesome. The others had wines and were very happy with the house wines. I had a perfect Moscow Mule and then switched to very excellent Dark and Stormys. The girls split a spiedini with a skewer of beef and one of chicken and they said it was quite good. I had the calamari Luciana which was sauted calamari in a slightly spice marinara sauce and I had to get an order of bread to soak up the sauce.
All in all, it was a great place and a great time.
The dinner prices are a bit high, but folks next to us said that their steaks and lamb chops were out standing and so we'll be going back this weekend to try dinner.
